2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Gauge pods

Hi, looking to mount gauges in my DC for towing. I'll need to mount my 4 gauges somehow (pyro,boost,trans temp,fuel pres). I've looked at A-pillar mounts but then have to find another place for the other gauge. I haven't seen many dash mount pods in DCs and none in person. I don't want any glare on the windshield at night so the dash pod would have to mount at the edge of the dash closest to the driver (don't want to saw the dash up with a Rods pod!). Anyone know if a 4 gauge dash pod like this is available? How about feedback about preference - a-pillar vs. dash mounting? I'm also looking to switch my mechanical fuel pressure gauge between pre and post filter. Anyone done this and able to give me a source for a 12v solenoid valve for use with diesel fuel? Thanks!

I am thinking of doing this with my pillar mount and use the speaker hole for a 1 1/2" fuel gage. I have a 1/8" three way valve that I am thinking of using instead of a solenoid valve (will use after filter most of the time and only switch for comparison if I see a problem after filter). I am looking at 1/8" stainless tubing to hook it up. I don't think I would like using a solenoid valve.

Why don't you buy a steering wheel mount you can get them a genos or diesel manor.com they are about 25$ they come with the option to mount 1 or 2 gauges. Looks clean just mounts to your steering colom

Have you considered using the Westach Combo Gauge? You would then be able to mount all 4 of your gauges in the 3 gauge pillar mount.

Rod's pod looks pretty cool to me, I haven't done it yet but plan too. Hacking the dash is no biggie to me, it's just plastic.

I really recommend the Rod's Pod option. I as well was reluctant at first to cut the dash bezel, but am VERY happy with the end result. Check out my readers rigs gallery for a pic of the result.

Rod's Pod is the way to go - 4 gauges easy... I've done a detail post with pictures of the process. Search for 'Rod Pod' and use my name "schu777"

As you can read from my sig. I am running four different gauges, some of them are duals----I used a three gauge post mount and installed my EGT (dual)((Westach)) in the center where the coin box or what ever DC thought that thing was... . cut out the pocket and put in nice plate so when I pull the dash cover--gauge is still there... ... ... ... A thought on the three post mount--I don't care what others think---it does make for large post to see around!!

You have several options, just research the matter and get what is right for you.

I originally had Di-pricol and Isspro gages, they were recommended by other fellow TDR members and at the time I was new to the diesel scene and went with their recommendations. I had always used Autometer in the past, and had liked them very much. The recommended gages worked well, but I never liked them. They were poorly back-lite which made night viewing very hard, and I didn't like the the numbering style. I like the gage to be easy to read, I don't have time to sit their and stair at the dang thing. The "Combo" type gages mentioned before in this post, would not be one of my choice's, they have small numbers and since they share space, the gage sweep is way under size. Gages should be easy to read, in any condition and at night. I finally got tired of my gages and tossed them in favor of some Autometer Ultra-lite series gages. They are much nicer to read, the sweep is large enough to easily tell a difference in readings, and the night vision is better. You need room for 4 gages, I would think a three gage A-piler pod and a steering wheel single mount woult be nice.

I went with the Rod's Pod. Easy installation and very easy to read. Doesn't cause the BIG blind spot that the pillar mount causes. Hope this helps!

I had a 2 guage pod installed with Westach Combo egt and boost, and a Westach fp gauge. All are easy to read and I have no problem with the combo gauage being hard to read. They all match dash very well.

Oh yea. It's a pillar mount, does not block view. I just have to watch the road and not the guages too much.

get a 3 gauge pillar mount, put the big fuel lines in and a pusher pump and you wont have to worry about fuel pressure. if you are concerned just tap in a guge then monitor fuel pressure now and then.

I don't like piller mounts, Rods Pod was close consideration.



Here is what I did. I used radio mounting plate, glued on an aluminum plate to it. Radio is going under front seat with CD changer and remote.
