Gauge Pods

I want to add 2 more gauges to my truck and was wondering about the steering column vs the over the mirror style. These will be for air bag pressure and aux fuel tank level, so I don't need to look at them on a regular basis. To those who have gauges mounted there which was easiest? Does the column block things too much? I have a stick so I'm not worried about blocking the PRNDL. I already have 3 on the pillar and 3 on the dash. Thanks in advance. David

I like the overhead mounts for gauges that do not need to be checked often...they are out of the way and do not bloc ANY visibilty. II did just buy a used single gauge steering column mount, that I may or may not use, cause for $20, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see how it feels as a mounting option. It DOES block the odometer just a little from where I sit (high up and leaning back), but no big deal. That being said, even with only one gauge opening, it seems to be a little too much info, too forward, I would save that space for something I really needed to look at or probably NOT use it at all. I do have a quad overhead gauge, just waitingto install until I can afford the several Westach dual gauges that I want to install.

I have a triple overhead pod and really like it aswell, drove a friends truck with the steering column pod and didint care for it.

Thanks guys. Where did you run the wires? Up the A pillar and behind the head liner I assume? David

Yup, up the drivers side A pillar, I pulled my sun visor and overhead console to get the wires onto of the headliner so I wouldn't worry about them falling down. The only thing to keep in mind is there is not much room in the overhead gauge pods so mounting gauges in them can be a bit time consuming, not terrible just not as easy as a pillar.

I place my rail pressure gauge in a single steering column mount, it's suitable. If I didn't have to monitor too much, I would utilize the overhead with multiple gauges, it's out of your normal vision of the road, but still very easy to glance at.
