Where are you guys hooking up the gauge power wires?

I want it on a switched circuit and have thought about running a seperate power relay. But, I suspect one of those circuits already in the truck has enough power to run off of without having to shove yet another cable through the firewall.

Any suggestions?... . I'll be doing it tomorrow... ... .....

Dunno about your specific year - but my '02 had a "spare" fuse position that was unused, so I used a piggyback connector on that one - it is a switched circuit on mine - I also tied all power and ground leads together inside my A pillar to minimize connections needed under the dashboard - I used the hookup recommended by Geno's on the guage lights, and they are on whenever the motor is running - simpler than hunting down a dash light circuit, and less chance of screwing anything up!

For my gauge lights I had a heck of a time trying to find the right wire from the headlight switch.

I ended up hooking to the positive side of the ash tray bulb--my multimeter confirmed it was on the dimmer circuit.

Of course, mine's a '92, so it might be different on a '97 but it's something to try.

I hooked mine up to the ash tray light. Its on the dimmer on my 99.

The hardest part was getting to the wiring..... but it is do-able.
