I have a 2001 2500 CTD, of course, Auto, 3. 54. Want to install some gauges and am wondering if I can install Westach gauges in a Autometer A-pillar? I want to install FP, transmission Temp and a Combo Boost-EGT. I think I can handle installation of these if I take my time as I have spent numerous hours with a flashlight looking over ever square inch under the hood. :D I am thiking of putting a FP sender on the banjo bolt on the back of the filter and was noticing a threaded something already there. What is this? Is this where the dealer checks FP. Can I remove it and replace the whole thing with a tapped Banjo bolt to attach my sender to.

Thank alot guys.

New to this game, how do you make a signature.

You can install the Westach guages in the Autometer pillar. The westach catalog calls them 2 1/8", but they fit in the 2" autometer pillar with the help of just a little minor filing.

There are 2 fuel pressure test ports as the truck comes from the factory. One is on the line going into the filter, the other is on the line coming out of the filter. These are schraeder valves (like on your tire valve stems) with plastic covers. These fittings are threaded for tubing fittings only--you can't screw a guage sender directly onto these ports. Some people (myself included) remove the schraeder valve insert from the fitting and plumb the gauge to a remote location. This gives the (possible) advantage of dampening engine vibration to the sender. Other people purchase the modified banjo bolts from Geno's. These provide larger openings for greater fuel flow and are available with 1/8 NPT ports for mounting the sender.

Go pre-turbo on your EGT. I've got a dual EGT from Westach, and have neve seen the post-turbo higher than the pre-turbo, even after just letting off the throttle after a hard pull. The pre-turbo configuration will benefit you more if you BOMB, as well as giving you a good indicator for turbo cool-down (as I've said, I've never seen post- be higher than pre-, so if pre- is <300*, then post is too, so it is safe to shut down).

Have fun,

I will be putting a tapped banjo bolt from Geno's in the bottom of filter case, which is outlet to injection pump. And remote mounting my sender with a hose( like for a grease gun) for my fuel gauge setup. All the Best!
