As a proud new owner of a 93 club cab, I've decided adding gauges are my first priority. I've seen several posts throughout TDR concerning the VDO vision and Banks/Isspro gauges, but what I'm really looking foward is feedback from 1st gen. owners as to what matches the factory gauges and lighting the best? I've already installed the add on factory tach on the left side of the dash, so will a 3 gauge pillar mount work, or am I stuck w/ a dash mount setup? Also, from what I've read the VDO's are slightly larger in Dia. , so will they fit in the mounts? Specific part #'s are especially welcome. Sorry for the long post, but thanks in advance for the help.

Terry, congratulations on the acquisition of your truck.

I just installed Isspro gauges (pyro+boost)on the pillar in a dual gauge pod. I wired the bulbs into fuse block # 14 which controls all of the panel lights. I find the lighting is good and the gauges are easy to read. The pyro has colour coding (green, yellow and red) along with numbers. In my installation you can't see any wires and looks really good. The truck came with the factory tach on the drivers side of the dash.
The following are the part numbers:-
Isspro pyro gauge kit #R607VW-10'
Isspro boost gauge kit #R8610R (2-30 lb. )
Autometer pillar mount, dual #15198

My truck has had the factory tach almost since new. I decided to ad pyro and boost gauges Just recently. I used the pillar mount,it's available from Autometer, it allowed the gauges to be mounted between the pillar and the tach. This set up does not impair foward vision at all, and puts the gauges at eye level. There are a number of choices of gauges, as well as analog and digital, combination units are available. One of the vendors web sites has catalogue photos and some video of some gauges in operation. My truck has Isspro analog gauges, and so far I am quite pleased with them. The Autometer pillar mount is available with one or two holes and fits 86 thru 93, 2 hole is part # 15198. The pyro is part # R607VW-10' and the boost gauge is part # R8610R (30psi). The TST web site has mounting instructions for both that are easy to follow. The Gauges illuminate fine, only thing that needs to be done is a bit of green marker pen on the bulbs before installing into the gauge. I have a picture taken from the passenger side,E-mail me and I willsend it to you.

ETOBICOKE, check out a truck stop near you for "bulb boots". They have any color you wish and they just slide over the bulb. The green is pretty close, a little dim though so I took them off.
I wish I could have gotten the pillar mount! #ad
. But my tach is mounted on the speaker area on the dash anyway so all the gauges are clustered, sort of. .
