O. K. ,,, I'm leaning towards going with the smarty vs the egde attitude/juice. this means i am going to need to install seperate gauges.

EGT and Boost are obvious must have's

What about fuel and fuel rail,, I know that in the days of the VP44 that fuel pressure was very important,,,, but since the lift pumps have been moved to the fuel tank and I dont think the new high pressure pumps are fuel lubracated (i may be wrong, still learning about the common rails) then pressure at the filter housing may not be that important,,,

is the filter housing the only place to measure fuel pressure on an 07, and if so will indicate the need for filter replacement if measured there?

under what circumstances do i need to monitor fuel rail pressure,,,, what mods?

I'm starting to see how far my bombing dollars are going to go and i only want to install guages once

thank

EGT/Boost/Fuel press/Rail Pressure

Put a pusher pump in before you install the power mods... .

I lost a CP3 with no mods... it will be the 1st mod on any truck I own...

IMO

If the cp3 is the same design as my 05, the best place, imo, is to take the fuel pressure reading right at the cp3. Very easy to do with a tapped banjo bolt, short piece of fuel line and electric sender/guage. CP3 is the high pressure pump and it needs a certain "volume" of fuel to survive. This includes lubrication and cooling from the fuel. You might want to also add an oil pressure guage since the stock one isn't worth much (unless that has changed also)... Keep us informed on how you like your 07'... :D

I was wondering the same thing because I am getting close to start building some more power out of my truck and gauges was going to be the first that I done. Going what I have read and found here I think boost/pyro/fuel and rail pressure is what you need to go with on a common rail
