Hello,

I just installed Dipricol Egt and Boost gauges in my dad's 98 12v. I was just checking to see if the readings I am getting match up. I shoulda went with a 60 psi boost gauge though.

Max EGT, WOT is 900-950, all I could get out of her. probe pre-turbo.

I can peg the 35 psi boost gauge.

Mods are, PDR Hx35/12, Timing 14. 5-15deg, stock plate slid forward some, not all the way. Straight piped, BHAF. Some black smoke, not much; mostly a haze.

Is all this sound about right? Suprised EGT's weren't higher.

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

With your turbo and the bumped timing, and the lack of fuel modifications, I am not surprised with the numbers. Where exactly did you put the EGT probe?

Stock trucks can get as high as 1500-1600 towing hard... but with the air flow improvements you have. . you're cooling your motor very well. If you want to see higher numbers, bigger injectors, tweak the pump, and you will see higher numbers and a whole LOT more HP.

I do agree you should have gotten a higher boost gauge. I peg my 35lb all the time.

Thanks.

The EGT probe is pre-turbo. I had just heard alot about how the 12v's with the 12cm housing and stock plate slid forward had high EGT's. Thanks.

12 valves with stock plate slid forward can get high EGT's. The advanced timing is what likely solved that problem. That's my vote.
