I'm getting ready to buy gauges or a digital monitor for my truck. I'm looking at the Quadzilla Commander. Anybody out there have experience / opinion on this unit? My other choice will probably be Isspro conventional gauges. Any comments / suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

I own several trucks and we do no HP improvements... thus no gauges... I personally wouldn't make a change to gauges unless we were to exceed the HP and torque standards...

I was going to install a transmission temp gauge on our new 5500 (Aisan). . all others are sticks... but one of the gents here with a 3500 C&C who tows heavier than this truck will be loaded said he's not had a problem with transmission temp or fluid life so we aren't going to monitor it. .

However if I did improve the HP and torque or two heavy loads with the lighter auto's I would in fact pay closer attention... With close to 500K between 3 trucks, at this stage I think I've made a good decision... .

We HAVE taken the steps to install other items... like... all trucks have a 10 micron water trap and 2 micron final filter before the fuel heads to the engine system...

I have the ISSPRO pyro, boost, & fuel pressure gauges mounted on the A-pillar. I'm very happy with 'em and wouldn't trade 'em.

Even if you stay stock I'd still monitor what goes on. Just good piece of mind. Personal opinion.

I like the MSD Dashhawk. Plus they just released the EGT kit for it. As a side you can see and clear CEL's and it simply plugs into the ODBII port so wires to splice. Also it fits in the Edge pillar mount for a clean look.

I have an 06 and just installed the ISSPRO over the rear view mirror. It took a bit of extra work to have it secured with out the use of double sided sticky tape. It makes a very neat and professional install. If I had it to do all over again, I would consider the A-Pillar triple pod because of the easier install.

You should monitor your temps and boost. It will help you to diagnose a problem later down the road. If you have the auto, you definitely need to watch the temp when maneuvering a trailer in a tight spot as the temps can come up in a hurry. My suggestion is to install gauges of your choice.

Wether it's a Daily driver, towing, and/or for competition, I'd put gauges in of some kind. As, said above it gives you a better idea of what is going on engine and trans wise (if Auto). My choice were DiPricols, they match the OEM cluster perfectly for me... .

If you get a monitor, the morons at the dealer are likely to think it's a performance box of some sort.

I am going with a Quad Commander. I had gauges on my last truck and they were nice, but I want to not lose my grab handle.

For $1000 I can get Optix Boost, EGT, Trans temp, Rail and fuel pressure (with associated goodies including a-pillar and dual gauge pod) and lose the grab handle in the process.

IIRC for $450-ish I can get a Quad Commander with all the associated goodies including the pillar mount. Not only will it monitor the 5 functions listed above, but will also retain maximums, monitor coolant temp, control many aftermarket boxes (and obviously the Quad boxes) and defuel based on parameters you set (only on boxes controlled by the Commander).

You get much more for your money, but the drawback (IMO) is that it doesn't look as cool.

Thanks guys, for all the input. I totally agree that gauges are a must have,if only for my peace of mind when I'm towing. I have multiple gauge arrays on all my other vehicles, either mounted under dash (hard to read sometimes with these old eyes) or clamped to steering column, (Obstructs view of factory instruments) or top of dash mount. (reflects light in W/shield at night) Like Jcleary, my wife, who drives the truck more than I, really appreciates the grab handle.
