Gauges on A-pillar not working--unusual behavior

Hi guys,

My Isspro EGT gauge has been working intermittently for a couple of days. Now, it appears that my Isspro Boost gauge is working intermittently. I'm not sure if my Isspro transmission Temp gauge is working since that takes a bit of driving to get it to move.

What is unusual is that I let the engine idle, and for a few minutes, the EGT gauge seemed to work (i. e. show engine temp) on and off, as the engine idle slightly changed. It seemed as if the alternator or something was coming on and off, the engine idle would drop down ever so slightly, and the gauge would function in concert with this change. Then the idle would rise a little (and the alternator or something would go off), and the gauge would die again.

Anybody with a suggestion as to where along the system the problem is? (I'm guessing a bad connection somewhere).

Could it be the intake heater causing the slight change you're describing?

In my truck, when the heater grid cycles, everything goes dim, gauges fall slighly too.

BTW, the boost gauge is mechanical, so I can't see how i could be an electrical issue causing it not to work.

You maybe wrong about the boost gauge being mechanical. I have the banks pyro and boost on the A pillar and was surprised to find that my boost gauge is electrical. It gets it's info. from the map sensor. If I'm not mistaken it's made for banks by isspro. It's also going to be replaced soon with autometer phantom series white faced. I agree that the grid heaters cycling could cause problems. IMO

Thanks for your input, guys. I'm installer informed me that the boost gauge is mechanical. It seems as if the pyro gauge may be defective (I didn't mention that when I first start the engine, the needle goes a bit crazy, bouncing around the red/yellow zones, before settling down). The boost gauge may just be stuck.
