Gauges/PE Comp box ???'s

I'm going to order my gauges and PE Comp box within the next week. I'm probably going to go w/ Autometer Z-Series EGT, Boost, and transmission temp gauges. Only place I can find them is Geno's... . buy them there??? Also, I've heard that it's tough to find a Triple A-Pillar mount w/o tweeter hole... . this true? Am I gonna be SOL for one for a while? Also, where's the cheapest place to buy the Comp box? Was told $625 on here... . this a good price?

Where exactly are you in Southern Oregon? Your truck (in your profile) is exactly what I want to do to mine. Are you having any problems with EGT's w/ the stock Turbo? How long can you really get on it w/ the Comp on 5x5? Also, what % TC and what VB do you have? Gonna be doing that in about 3 weeks. Thanks for any more help. Josh

Andy supplied all my guages, and a PE Comp. very fair prices. I went will a center Pod on the dash, and we love it. I also recomend the IsoPro EV guages they are sweet.

If you are gonna go with the PE Comp box, Go ahead and spend the extra money now and get the drag version. I just went down the same road a you are and the drag version is much better.

Now for the turbo: I ran the heck out of my HY 35. I mean ran it hard for about six months. I just went up to the HX 40 from Piers and this thing is awesome. With the HY turbo I could hit 1550* on the egt guage. Now I have to push it real hard on level 5x5 to hit 1350. That is very good in my opinion. Be careful, you are heading down a very expensive road. With the comp you MUST upgrade your transmission... ... ... It will not last with the torque numbers the comp will put out. It will be fine at full throttle, It is the low throttle stuff that will kill it.



Guages: I buy my stuff from Fred Swanson www.desertdieselparts.com He is a good guy and will BEAT all others prices on these things or tell you where to get it cheaper.

I am in Medford, there are a few of us bombers here . So far I have not had any problems with egts even with the hy35 turbo. I am at 100mph when it get to 1300+ so I dont drive that fast very much . My turbo how ever has turned yellow from the heat so I know its getting hot sometimes. I just dont want to put a big old turbo and get the lag off the line is my only thing stopping me.



Drag version of the comp??? Didnt know there was one. But my truck still hauls a$$



I have the 91% TC and when I got mine I dont think there was a choice in VB's so I got the standard one I guess. I love it though so far.



If you want to come down and drive my truck feel free I have summers off, so I am free anytime.

Thank you guys for all the great info. After doing some calling around today and getting some prices, I'm going to get the Comp for considerably less than I stated above... won't name any names though.



I am ordering my gauges from Andy at SmokinDiesel... . seemed to be a great fella on the phone. Going with the Autometer Z-series... hope they look as good as they do in the pictures, and work as well too.



I finally get to take delivery of my new Truck on Friday afternoon. Previous owner picks up his new one Friday morning, then the '01 is all mine!!! Oo. Oo. Oo. I'm not excited or nothing.



BTW, my transmission will be getting done... . just not sure when yet. The pump wire will not be poked until my transmission has the DTT T/C and VB installed though... I don't trust myself to keep my foot out of it... lol
