Question for Louisiana members,

New Guy Here...

Hello TDR!

I am new to the CTD having recently bought a 2002 2500 4x4 with the HO and auto transmission.

I would like to put gauges on the truck to monitor transmission temp, egt, turbo boost and fuel pressure ( those darned lift pumps! ).

My buddy has a triple gauge setup on his a-pillar that looks pretty neat but I am thinking of running with the gauge setup that would mount on the dash... as seen in my Geno's Garage catalog. I am thinking along the lines of the Westach Combo Gauges mounted in the triple dash pod.....

Do any of you experienced CTD members have any input as to gauge set up in your vehicles? :-laf

Thanks for the help!!!

Welcome to the TDR!! this place has so many nice resources and people that supply a wealth of information. check out rod's pod... those are nice and put the gauges out of the way.

I personally don't like the combo gauges. To confusing for me to read. Might be different for others tho. If ya did all 4 seperate gauges you could do the dash pod with a steering column mount.

Nathan,

Thanks for the response!! Where are you finding the steering column mount for the gauge pods? I looked again at Geno's but failed to see this listed. I would think that (4) gauges would be a bit combersome on the steering column but would like to consider the suggestion.

Thanks again for the help to a newbie! My next project on the truck is a box of some sort to boose performance a bit and then a new exhaust kit!!!

Take care!

Welcome to the TDR.

If you go with the Westach gauges you will be able to put all four in the dash pod.

Mike,

Sorry I must have confused you some. You can buy the 3 gauge dash pod and then buy another pod that goes on the steering wheel. So there would only be one on the steering wheel and 3 up on the dash.

Heres a link to the 3 gauge dash pod: http://www.genosgarage.com/CoastalData/showdetl.cfm?&DID=30&Product_ID=657&CATID=1

And heres a link to the steering wheel pod: http://www.genosgarage.com/CoastalData/showdetl.cfm?&DID=30&Product_ID=658&CATID=1

I can't find my Geno's catalog at the moment for the page numbers.

I sell a autometer guage pod that goe's on the steering column it only holds one gauge due to the hazard light switch and I sell propod dash mount or a-pillar mounts as well as Di procol gauges I personally dont care for dash mount I find them just as obtrusive well maybe a little more even than a-pillar

also check out the x- monitor you can mount it on a pillar or on top of steering column it has all gauges in a digital readout pyro, boost, trans temp you can then just run one analog guage fuel pressure or they sell a warning light that comes on when fuel pressure drops below 5 psi

I didn't buy one, but check out Rod's Pods at wildcatdiesel.com. They say it holds four gauges. You have to modify the bezel on the dash though.

Welcome :) im geting ready for gauges myself i was planing on Autometer pyro/boost/fuel presure on the pillard and trans temp on the colume. Rip at www.sourceautomotive.biz 1-866-211-1533 he has all the stuff for gauges pods/fitings/mounting kits ext and he sells a nice 4'' exhaust kit for a reasonable price :D . If your running a stock auto trany i would try to not go big on a box its like rolling dice with a stock trany. It might last awile it might not im staing away from them until i upgrade my trany . Must... hold... . back..... my temtations :-laf

I did the triple pillar first then added fuel pressure. I put the fuel press. in a bullet mount and mounted it to the triple pillar. I placed it just above the center guage on the triple pillar, now it is the same height as the top guage. Looks like it was made there my oil temp is the top guage and the fuel press. sticks out a little bit.

Where on the dash does the pod in Geno's mount? Is it at the far left, in the center, right in front of the driver?

1st off WELCOME to TDR. I drove a 26K truck and there was NO WAY I was putting them on the piller I hit the broad side of a little mini van that ran a stop sign :--) Yes the car was totaled, truck had a scatched bumper. Look here at my post on 3rd page about 2 post down. Works well for me and it's a sneaker that poeple can't really see :-laf http://www.webpowerplus.org/~pwrwagn/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?;act=ST;f=20;t=10468;st=16 till I just blow the doors off them and leave them in the smoke.

A/C will still FFRREEEEEZE you out. I block the duct off to get more PSI else where. It took about 3 days of work and lots trips to parts stores LOL. The plate is just blank stereo plate. I used a torch to bend the plate to the shape of the bezal. The plate is atached to the bezal using JB quick weld. I used 3 autometer angle rings. Dodge color spay paint on the bezal after it was dry. I feel the worst part was getting the duct piece out. You'll also need a Dremal tool to make the hole bigger for the guages. The wires run over the speedo in the dash behind bezal and has enough slack so I can move the bezal around no problem.
