Is a pyro gauge the same as a egt guage ?

I pull travel trailers for a living, so 50% of the drive time is under load (no more than 9,000#, do not have $$$ for mods yet, but I am going to shell out the $$$ for gauges (for peace of mind).

I was thinking of fuel pres, egt, trans temp.

According to my sig. (ie,: what my truck is & how it is setup) does this sound about right ?, or are there others that are more important.

What are best, mech or elec, & why.

Note: at the present time I do have a low fuel pressure lite mounted on dash, I also have a secondary fuel pump mounted on the frame rail (ie: lost the infamous vp-44 last Sept. due to bad pump, lesson learned)

Thanks

Yeah, a pyro is the same as a egt gauge. As for which are better gauges, mech or elec, couldn't tell you there. Those 3 you picked out already, the egt, fuel press. and transmission temp are excellent choices, another that might be good it a diff. temp gauge for your rear axle since you said you tow for a living, but the 3 you already stated I would say are almost manditory in your situation. Boost would be nice too, but until you actual start modding your truck, IMO, I think its more for fun to look at;)

You should consider a combo Boost/EGT gauge, Trans Temp with an auto a must, and since you have a VP44 the LP gauge is also a must. You can go with a 3 pod on the "A" pillar and if you do the combo get 4 in the place of 3. Then if you want diff temp you can either get a column top mount or an aux plate and put low on the dash.
