I'm looking at purchasing some gauges for my truck. I have been looking at the SPA and someone told me that have been a lot of problems with these gauses. Does anybody have any comments?

I'm looking at a three pillar for my truck, but the only ones that I've seen come only in Black are their any out there that are gray and if so from who.

Does this sound like some good points to monitor, Boost,EGT, transmission Temp (Auto) and Fuel Pressure?

Also another question, How are the westech dual gauges?

I have a set of the EV autometers and love them the pillar only comes in black but all you have to do is paint it go to a dealer or Wal-Mart and get the interior only paint in the color you want I was concidering the westech but they look hard to read.

LOL

Kfranovich:

I have been using the SPA's for over 25k now with zero problems. I also was looking at the Westachs and came within a hair of getting those but decided in the end to go with the SPA's. Main reason being I wanted to monitor boost, egt, fuel pressure, trans temp and oil temp and I wanted them all to fit on the A pillar. All of the SPA's are dual gauges so I could monitor six items in the space of three as well as the fact that I prefer digital. The SPA warning lights are a very nice feature. As mentioned above the a pillar replacement is easily paintable. I think a small can of paint from the stealer was about 9. 00. Also the new models of the SPA's are starting to show up with several new features the old ones didn't have in them. You might call SPA to ask them about the new ones as they are not on their website yet. Be warned they are expensive but worth it IMO. It seems in all the postings that gauges are a very personal thing all the major ones seem to work well it just depends on what floats your boat.

Westberg Mfg. Inc. (Westach) states on their website "and "duals" in virtually any configuration"—just another option to maximize the information available on the A-pillar. A dual 2" round fuel pressure gauge—not a standard Westach instrument—cost me $71. 60 + $4. 00 for a light kit. I purchased the sending units for the gauges at Geno's Garage.

I have been using my SPA for about 50K miles with no problems, only had to clean and grease one connection point. It really is a superior unit in my opinion, there simply is no other gauge for me. If you like them get them, you won't be disappointed.

SPA, on the way....

Despite all the problems some people have, I decided to get them anyways. The new DG211 is on the way to the house right now.

Once my job situation gets squared away, I am going to throw the autometer ultralights that I have in the trash for SPA's. Not only do I like the ability to have 2 gauges in one... but the lighting has got to be tons better then the autometers. Plain and simple... . the lighting on the autometers suck big time.

I'm about to go with the westach gauges, has anybody got any thing to say about them. Also what is the type of sensor that I need for my EGT 1/8" or 1/4". Where would I connect the sensor for the Auto transmission, I see that they make one for the Dip stick. How is this one (Good or Bad).

I have the Westach combo EGT/boost and a Westach combo dual fuel pressure gauge (pre and post filter) in a 2-gauge A-pillar pod. They've worked out very well - I'm happy with them.

You can order either a 1/8" NPT or 1/4" NPT t'couple fitting. Either will work fine. I have the 1/4" NPT - no problems. An advantage of the 1/8" NPT is, should you screw up tapping the exhaust manifold (shouldn't be a problem), you can go up to the 1/4" NPT.
