well, I ordered my gauges from Geno's,,, anyone have any quick advise on how to install them on the 03'... ... ? I bought the EGT, BOOST , AND TRANY TEMP..... I know how to do the egt, but not sure on the transmission temp. on the stock pan.....

EGT: drill and tap a hole in the manifold for pre-turbo measurment or drill a hole in the pipe behind the elbow and use the clamp (if the probe comes with one) to hold it in the pipe for post-turbo measurement. If you go pre-turbo, be careful not to get shavings in the turbo. Do a search to find tips on how to drill and tap while everything is still hooked up.



Boost; Drill and tap the back of the intake horn or get a boost bolt (which I recommend) from one of the suppliers on this site (PDR).



transmission: I have a six speed so I don't know. Drill and tap the pan I guess or get an aftermarket pan like Mag-Hytec which has a place for the probe.

For the transmission there are some test holes on the Passanger side that are the same size as the probe. All I did was remove the last one in the line of 3 (I think theres 3) wrap the new probe with some teflone tape screw it in and your good to go. I have see some pretty acuate temps with mine there and I didnt have to take the pan off or get transmission fluid all over the place.

I have pictures in my reader rig of the test port on the transission I put the probe in as well as the boost bolt for boost on my '03.

Is this considered the right way to do this? Some people are saying that it isn't in the flow of the trans fluid... . I think the test port sounds easy, but I want to also get a true reading of the trans. temp... ...

It takes a while for the temp to come up but once it is warmed up it seems to react to changing driving fairly quickly. It normally runs about 150 to 160 in stop and go traffic it has got as high as 180, takes a while to go back down as well.

can you explain the boost bolt..... where to get one, and how much are they . is it easy to install this "Boost Bolt"??

Genos has them. It simply replaces the front/right intake manifold bolt. I put one on mine. Just ask Genos for it and I'll show ya!!

I got the bolt from http://www.piersdiesel.com/DodgeProducts.htm

You can see where I installed it, it is in the rear on the intake, that way the boost line has a cleaner run to the firewall. I was cautioned not to torque it too tight when installing.

Thanks for the reply,,,, I contacted Geno's yesterday to ask about the bolt, the said they now include it in the gauge package now for easier installation.....

I don;t mean to butt in on the thread here but I am getting ready to purchase guages and I have a few questions to make sure I'm headed in the right direction.



1st off Macker. . nice job!



I am basically wanting to do the same 3 guages as Macker... EGT, boost, and trans temp.



EGT: I have heard pre and post turbo... is there a preference... I noticed a post turbo install and it seems to me to be simpler as the metal shavings just get blown out rather than possibly getting sucked in the turbo. So this is drill and tap then run the wiring to the guage?



BOOST: Just use the 'boost bolt' to replace the specified manifold bolt... and run the tubing to the guage?



TRANS TEMP: Use one of the test ports to

insert the sensor... run wiring to the guage??



ALSO... . I have seen it where the guages are lit at night... I understand how this basically works BUT how tough is it to wire that up too?



I know these questions sound a bit redundant but I want to attempt to install these myself and I don;t want to tear anything up in the process.

The wiring for the lights is really simple. I always make a string of wire that ties all the grounds for the 3 lights together and ground it to one spot under the dash (don't ground the lights to the same place as other items on the truck). By harness I mean one long wire that runs to the farthest gauge, and has wires branching off to reach the other two gauges. For the power, run the same kind of harness, and tap it into the headlight switch. For the '03s the correct wire should be orange with a white stripe (orange with a brown stripe on '04). You can see the wiring harness that contains about 5-6 wires coming down from the headlight switch under the dash. It's a good idea to use a test light just to check the wire before tapping (probe the wire, turn the lights on, and move the dimmer). For power just use the test light to find a keyed wire running under the dash and tap into that.



Pre turbo will be much better for accuracy (the shavings won't hurt the turbo... drill & tap and let her fly), and the boost bolt just replaces any of the bolts that hold the intake manifold plate down.

I just received my Dipricol EGT from Geno's, and I am putting it in the SRT-10 a-pillar cover.



I am a little confused about wiring the light. I want this gauge to look as close to OEM as possible. There is a bulb with 2 black wires, and a pigtail with a white wire and a black wire for an LED light. For the closest to stock look, are you supposed to wire for both? If so, should they both be wired to the dimable circuit? (White wire hot, black ground?)

Ordered my guages from Genos last night. Autometer 'Ultralight' series.



Ordered the new triple dash pod for the '03-'04 trucks. If all goes as planned I'll attempt to install them next week.

BTW... I saw pictures on here somewhere of the transmission temp probe put in one of the 'pressure test ports'. . BUT in the pic I really could not tell where one of these is?? Any info??

If it was my pictures in my reader rig, the port is on the passenger side rear of the transmission. There are three ports with plugs in them, this is the port closest to the rear of the truck, in the picture you should be able to see the pan and the crossmember support for reference.
