Aux tanks / Fuel colors

Since I run only road fuel with a Aux/transfer tank on mine, I added a large water separator with a see through housing. The fuel is a gold color in the filter. Maybe it will help speed things up if I get checked for fuel color. :p

More driver education couldn't hurt anything. I went to a motor coach driving school that lasted 5 days. The hands on training was great, a 40' coach becomes like your car after you learn how to squeeze into just about anything. More people should take the time and attend a driving school, at least those RV drivers who need one and a half lanes of the freeway and are scared to death when they have no choice but to back up their diesel pushers.

SSage. What school did you attend? Is this for Golden Eagles or Wanderlodges or what? My CDL covers everything from doubles/triples, tankers, and Busses. As I near retirement, I would like to get training on the busses to do some part time/fill in work.

Alan, if you already have the P endorsement, why do you need more training? If you just need to bone up on the written part, it should be on the net somewhere.

You can find personnal feedback on schools from forums such as these. Many of these training schools offer passenger and school bus classes. I know the school I attended will tailor your needs.

I went to GDA here in GA, they have the only CDL style bus training I could find. They used two old passenger type buses when I attended about 5 years ago. I enjoyed it, I never drove a bus before that. Its a little different from a tractor trailer, much easier to me. Its not really anything spacial, I chose that route to see if I wanted a bus/RV.

If you already have the class A CDL and want to take a Motorcoach job your already there. A P endorsement is all you need. The coach companies will put you through a training period anyway to get familiar. It only took me a full day of driving a 40 footer and I was comfortable. I have a friend who drove part time for a bus company, he said there wasn't much training, he drove the long hauls with up to three other drivers.

You probably will find the GDA course too basic if you already have a CDL. Much of the course is CDL prep which was pretty boring:

Jeff you are right with your first post here . Register it as a RV . Don't get a CDL unless you really have to because you will not be able to take a defensive driving course to get out of a ticket anymore in Texas . Pretty much all States DOT laws are the same now but there might be a few differences . Thats started happening back around 1990 are so when everyone in Texas that had a Commercial Driving License had to re-test and get a CDL ( it was a fed. thing ) . All people that have a CDL are easily keep up with thur all States now .
