nv4500 lube

From what I have heard you need to stick with the factory fill of Castrol SyntorqLT. It says on the tag attached to the PTO cover.

Why sweat it? :D Leave the oil in it, you're trading it for a Ford. Right? Amsoil too expensive? It's cheaper than a replacement transmission. Steve St. Laurent and Dave Mitchell both witnessed how clean MGM's transmission was when he had it apart last year. An awful lot cleaner than Steve's which had been running the Castrol Syntorq. There's no combustion soot and carbons to contaminate the gear lube in the transmission, so it'll last longer, give you a much longer drain interval. The synthetic stands up to the heat generated by the transmission, thus giving it extra protection. Heat kills transmissions.

Castrol Syntorq was the least amount of HP drag in a recent test done by Joe Donnelly. It heated up less than the 5 others out there tested. One exception was the Torco racing transmission oil. It was just above the Syntorq in heat. Less heat generated translates to less friction. This went to further prove the Syntorq's value. New Venture Gear has spoken about the heat generated with the NV4500 behind the Cummins. Standard Transmission is the cheapest place to buy it. About 60 bucks with shipping and its the correct amount (1 gallon)

They are in Ft Worth Texas. DC and NVGear both ask us to use Syntorq. They are backed up by controlled testing.

Standard Transmission has tried other stuff and still comes back to Syntorq. If you need it locally the Chevrolet dealer will have it at about 1/3 the cost the Dodge dealer will.

Todd, the redline M-T90 is appreoved for use in the nv-4500 as well as Castrol. The castrol for me was hard to find. Red line I think i paid 7 bucks a quart. do a search on the site as there was alot discussed about the oil in these boxes needing an ingredient that only castrol and redline had for the brass bushings. Check it out. i use amsoil every where else though in my truck. as said before cheap insurance. Dave:p

Tom i think the Ford is out of the running.

I plan to sell this one and build my next truck. i found a first gen Crew Cab and a second gen 4x4 frame and motor.

guess what... they are getting married!!

its gonna be Big, Orange and Fast...

as soon as i sell this one, i start.

not just Orange... Tangerine Orange :D :D

the city dwellers will be able to see it, glowing in my driveway at night.
