My truck is an '03, 3500, 4X4 with a Mag-Hytec AA 14-11. 5 rear diff. cover that was designed for the GM diff's. When I got mine, they did not have one dedicated to the Dodge. I'm planning on changing fluids in the near future.
My question is, do I need to take the cover off the diff. & clean out the inside of the differential or, just drain the fluid & install new fluid? Right now, I have RedLine 70-90 with about 40,000 miles, on it. I just checked the oil level stick & there was a bit of "fuzz" on the magnet but, the fluid still looked transparent (fairly clear). Didn't look dirty, at all.
The last two issues of the TDR had great articles about the NV-5600 written by Dr. Joe Donnelly. He has been using Torco RTF (Racing Transmission Fluid) in his NV-5600. He had the trans torn down & rebuilt to much higher standards. He documented all the trans. fluid changes & the inside of the trans looked pretty good. The syncro's were still in good shape indicating that the aftermarket fluids that he was using were working very well.
As usual, Dr. Donnelly's articles were written very well with lots of good, useful information & pictures. He answered many of my questions about this transmission & its fluids.
