My 5 speed transmission is out to get completely rebuilt. When I pick up the transmission, should I put regular gear oil in it, run it without a load, and drain it before filling it with Syntorq (to flush out any debris that might be left from the rebuild), or is that an extra step I don't need to take?

I have a better idea, put a PTO filter (and a fastCooler on the driver side) and not worry about it. The PTO filter will clean up all the rebuild debris and then catch wear particles from then on.

If you want a synthetic oil, use Royal Purple MaxGear 75W-90, works great for me. Just make sure your warranty (if any) will allow non-OEM oil.
