gear oil??

What gear oil should be used in a Dana 80 and should a posi lube be used also?

Lance- I don't think your truck is a posi. In Indy you were only spinning one tire. I use valvoline. I can't remember the numbers but I like it.

Not my rear axle, my front tires wont spin. :-laf

Actually, I thought maybe the clutches in the rear end were just wore out, but no luck again, I have the (I think what you would call) power lock, instead of the trac lock, or maybe its backwards. Mine only has two spider gears instead of four. Happy Gilmore's brother Matt was explaining it to me but my memory is shot. I missed out on a hell of a deal. A local guy totalled his 01, and said that if i swapped the rear ends out I could have his for free. His has posi and rear discs but unfortunately only my two hands wouldnt have got it done in time so i missed it.

I changed my fluid anyways and used a 75-90 synthetic.

Thats what it was 75-90 synthetic. I see why both wouldn't spin. Now why won't your front tires spin again?

You have a track-lok. It's the cheaper OEM lsd.



Go with a Redline or Royal Purple gear oil-- 75w-90 if you tow little or light, 80w-140 if you tow often or heavy.

yeah, i have the trak-lok unfortunately. I ended up using a 75-90 synthetic. I never tow with this truck anymore. If i replace the clutch washers in the rearend if that would help it from opening up? I just dont want my rearend to open up.
