Why would anybody bother to photograph a perfectly good gearset unless they were humping a product for their own benefit?

UH maybe because it's a way yo keep an eye on the condition. I post a lot of pics does that mean I am trying to sell every thing I post a pic of? BTW, when have I ever tried to sell anything on here???

You have to admit there is a huge difference in the two gears.

I guess I should be taking more pictures of anything related to my truck and how I do things....because it is soooo profound!

UH maybe it's a way to help others decide on products or realize they may have a looming problem and not know it. Like this pic I posed a while back. God forbid someone may have to remove the air intake, kinda like changing filter from the top.

Anything else you guys can criticize?

That's actually useful. If you posted a picture of an undamaged hose, for the sole purpose to demonstrate that 'everything is fine', that would not be useful.

I drove from houston to mn with 1 quart in the pumpkin of my 96 s10 blazer. From the factory. That is what I found. At 100,000 I had to replace both the pumpkin bearings and rear wheel bearings. I put in supertch 75w-90. Good enough for another 60,000 til I trader her in at 160,000 for my 2006 jeep liberty.

As opposed to.....?

I drained the synthetic mopar today. Almost no metal particles. I really didn't need to change the fluid it looked practically new.

But since i drained it, i put some Amsoil Severe gear in there.

I might take some heat for using Amsoil on this thread. Please be nice, i will try to wean myself off of the stuff.

Newsa I think your still missing the intent of my question. You said you don't know if the trucks leave the factory with Mopar gear lube, my question was as opposed to what? As in, what else would they use.
I would be very surprised if the factory fill was different from what is supplied at dealerships and the Mopar bottle. Even if Mopar had multiple suppliers for their gear oil it would likely be from someone similar to Warren Oil.

The trucks leave the factory with whatever AAM ships’em with........and I’m confident it’s not MOPAR gear lube.

Yeah......it will meet the specs set forth by RAM (AAM).....but it’s not MOPAR gear lube.

Unless things have changed DRASTICALLY in the last 10-15 years nothing gets shipped wet. I did alot of structural work for the presses at the Dana plant in Toledo. They leave the factory dry.

Hazmat concerns and all ya know.

HA God forbid anyone using ScamZoil.

The dealer asked if i wanted mopar conventional or mopar synthetic.

Since it was 20 below zero in Illinois late dec 2017, i went with synthetic. I wanted to dump the heavy gear oil i run in FL

Your dealer is an eeeediot, as the owner’s manual plainly states synthetic, GL5 75w90 for your truck......

I think the dealer may have realized that after my initial discussion. Because when i came back to pick up and asked him if they used synthetic, he said they only use synthetic in these trucks. He just didn't know that when i dropped it off.

"Nothing" gets shipped wet? Maybe the axles get shipped dry. But once the truck is assembled, in order to drive the trucks onto transport trucks, they must have lube in them. So something gets shipped wet. Makes me wonder if the Cummins engines really come with 5w40 synthetic Valvoline?

The factory fluid was a different color than what the dealer put in. Factory fluid was honey gold with a little green tint to it (green probably=pressure additives). The dealer fluid almost looked looked like it had friction clutch additive because it had more of a white/gray/green color.

I know someone on here said factory fluiid was not high quality. Never had any problem with factory or dealer fluid. I doubt they use substandard products. And the dealers apparently don't always use what is installed at the factory.

I can tell you many times the various fluids used in the DTNA truck assembly plants are not available in consumer sized packaging such as gallons and quarts. Doesn’t mean it’s bad, just a totally different demand and supply chain...

I was told directly from Cummins that they run the engine in with Valvoline oil then drain and ship to FCA. FCA has a contract with Pennzoil and shell owns Pennzoil. FCA would not confirm or deny what weight oil the engine was shipped to the dealer.
