Just a little info from my families 1st gens.
I have a 92 w/ 410s and 255/85 16 tires and a 5spd. It will pull through the power band and get nice and quiet at about 85-? (speedo doesn't work). It has a 16cm housing w/ PW injectors and pulls about 17,000lbs of hay on a 25ft. gooseneck. Loaded boost maxs at 26psi and will hit 1150 on a long steep grade, otherwise will run about 950-1000 on flats.
My Dads 93 is exact opposite. It has PWs and 16cm housing w/ and automatic and 3. 54s. At 70mph it is really wound up, but I believe the kicker is that it has 245 tires. It maxs at 80mph (speedo works in this one) and pull quite well given its stock pump settings. Its for sale if anybody is looking! Never touches 1000degrees, b/c pump is stock.
My brother has the exact truck of my dad's but his is only a W250. It has the PWs, 3. 54's and 265 tires w/ the automatic. It will pull to 90 quite easily. His pump is still stock also, but he has the 18. 5 for his interstate driving back and fro to college.
Hope this helps,
I believe tire size makes all the difference in the world. One more thing, My truck w/ the 4. 10s didn't loose a bit of power going to the taller 255 tires.
Have a good one--
