Gear shift not coming out of park when steping on brake

on occasion after stepping on brake, shifter will not come out of park. After several up and downs on the brake it will come out. Took to dealer and was told to first depress brake then pull out of park. Not true. Any answer?

well, there -is- an interlock so you cannot shift out of park without the brake being depressed... but it is quite possible your interlock is out of adjustment/etc and is hanging up. .

I wouldnt accept no for an answer @dealer.
