How many people have a Gear Vendors or US Gear auxillary over-drive installed in their truck? Does anybody make a "complete" kit, including the new shorter driveshaft and electronics?

How do these things work with an auto transmission? Do you turn it on/off under power, or do you have to switch the auto to Neutral before switching it?

if you havent already go to both there web pages and read up. i think most of your Q's can be answered.

I have heard the gear vendors box IF it goes out the truck is unusable. and the US gear box will still get power to the wheels. I believe both have Dealers they want you to go to for install, the only thing with doing it yourself, could be with warranty claims.

I would like to have one, but the cost is to prohibitive. it would take about 160,000 miles to pay for itself. :D

If the GV dies, you will still have direct. If it totally grenaids then you still have the option of going to 4 wheel and getting home with the front axle.

Mine self destructed about 150 mi from Tacoma while towing, lost the od. Came on in to Tacoma and the next week the Power Shop checked it out, drained oil and metal chunks (lots ), filled it back up. GV warranteed, P/S installed replacement a week later and all is well now.

I never was with out direct, just would not shift into od, lots of grinding and caterwalering when I attemted to go into od.

Some informed sources have hinted that the GV in bombed Dodge's have a higher failure rate than in Fords or Chebbies.
