We have a Gear Vendor unit on our new to us 2000 3500 six speed. (See sig) Anyways, the switch on the control box is in the "off" position and I can only get it to split 5th and 6th. I know you have to be over 20mph, but I get no O/D in 3rd or 4th. Is this because the computer box needs to be in the "on" position? Also, I know that you can't use the exhaust brake with the O/D engaged, but how would I go about setting up a relay to prevent this? Thanks, JOE

Use a single pole single throw normally closed relay, or the normally closed contacts on a single pole double throw relay in the wire that energizes the exhaust brake. Tie the coil of the relay to the wire that goes "hot" to energize the GearVendors OD. This way, when the GearVendors is "off", you have power to the exhaust brake. When the GearVendors is "on", the relay energizes and breaks the power circuit to the exhaust brake.

Edit: This would work on a "fail-safe" exhaust brake like the Jacobs that goes open when de-energized. If you have to have "power to open" AND "power to close", it's a little more involved.
