5th wheel front to back pivot question!!

Garmin MapSource software

I have approximately 70,000 on mine, with n o problems. Gv told me last week that the normal life is 75-120k depending on service, abuse, ect.

How many miles do you have on yours, and any problems you have had.

Thanks for all the replies

I just love my Gear Vendors

Gear Vendors vs US Gear

I believe that they are about the same price, installed. About 3k.

The reason I choose GV was the fact that you can shift under power eg you don't have to let off the petal for it to shift; and it compliments the Dodge Auto transmission. It would work differently with the stick shift.

30,000 on mine. No problems. Compliments my 4. 10 gears.

Their technical service has always been great when I had a question or two.

Mine was originally installed behind a 5 spd. and I pulled it out and installed behind my 2002 Automatic.

Gv sent instructions and parts that were needed for the conversion.

I've installed/deinstalled mine myself. Can do it in my sleep now.

I was surprised that the drive shaft is the same for the 5 spd. and the Auto.

I use the Mopar synthethic transmission fluid.

My 4. 10 Automatic in double OD would hit 140 mph at red-line if I had the horsepower, a tail wind, and a flat 5 mile stretch of road.

My first one lasted 12k miles. Used DC synthetic. always shifted like I was rear ended, heavy throttle, light throttle, floating throttle or no throttle. The replacement has about 9k on it. Dino juice. Shifts smooth. I'm afraid to put syn in it.

About 2100 rpm @ 75. Direct w/ GV OD. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. Oo. :D Oo.

Synthetic in Gear Vendors

Shooter:

I hate to tell you this; however, Gear Vendors flat out tells you not to put in syn or any type of friction modifiers in. I have always used a GM:)mad: ) lube that they recommended. I complained of having to go to the local GM to get the fluid; they gave me a Mopar part number and said it was the same. I have 4 qts of GM left, and that will do until over-haul time.

Mine always shifts smooth, except, when it is shifted under power:eek: . Isn't this kinda rough on the rear driveline? I will not tow without one though.

Thanks,

George

I shift the gear vendor smooth by lifting the shifter and then clutching halfway for the shift (about a inch down on the clutch) This seems to shift it very smooth. To downshift I raise the RPM about 400 by steppin on it and barely clutchin it at the same time. then I downshift the gear vendor. This seems to match up the rpms. and it shifts very smooth. It works for me.
