What gearing and tire size are you guys running and what kind of 'gas' mileage are you guys getting?

My lift pump went, I upgraded to a FASS. My truck feels kinda weak, and I'm wondering whether it's just my EXTREMELY shallow gears paired with larger than stock tires, or if the pump isn't right.

I've got 3. 55's, lt265's, and I'm getting about 12mpg around town and 18 on the highway. The only mods are a superchips programmer and a KN stock replacement air filter.

so how are you guys doing?

You can look at my signature for the mod and axle gearing. I am under the assumption that you have an automatic. for the mileage you are reporting. Mine is an HO 6 speed with 3. 54 gearing. I average 18. 5 to 20 around town and on the highway with just the Edge-Comp engaged in level 1x1, I get 22. 95 mpg. These numbers are hand calculated. ;)

I run 285's , and leave my TST on level 2 and usually get 13-14 mpg depending on how I drive or who I think is trying to race! :-laf Highway is maybe 16 if I'm lucky! Better than my old 1/2 ton chevy w/ 35's at 7mpg!

4. 10 gearing with 6 speed and ltx ms 285/75/16. I get 14 to 17 around town, and 22 on highway at 65mph cruise set. Edge comp set to 1-1 on highway. These #s are hand calculated as the trip computer is wrong with edge hooked up.

`02 with mach 3. 5`s HRVP-44 HX-40 EZ= 20mpg`s around town all the time ! it is all in the right foot! you have been driven a gasser too long, Don`t try to keep your tach aligned with the speedometer!!! , coast a little more look ahead!

is that from the trip computer? those are hardly reliable on even a stock truck, best thing is to calculate it by hand.

i think i averaged 22-23mpg last time i checked (35" tires and 3. 55 gears)

I've got 3. 55 gears, 255/85's on a stock '99 2500 4x4 automatic.

Last two tanks I got 18. 9mpg doing 80% highway driving;
and 16. 7mpg doing about 60% highway. On the highway, I drive 67-70mph. Generally I drive with a light foot, but I'm an ornery s. o. b. and there's lots of opportunities for my wrath during my commute here in lovely southern california. So factor in a dozen or so trips from zero to 80mph at WOT. ;)

I notice that one or two trips into the foothills puts me into the 15-16 mpg range. Best mileage I ever got was 23. 1, on a rural higway at 59mph.

it's not that it feels weak really.

I hear all these great gas mileages, and mine can't compete.

with as much highway driving as I do, I'd love to get some better highway mileage.

I'm talking 18mpg on a 5hr highway trip at 70-73mph with no breaks and no stop 'n go. I figure I should do a little better.

any suggestions?

I'm running 3. 55s with 315/75R16 Pro Comp MT tires on an 01 6 sp 4x4

Gearing is great for the high speed limits of Montana:)

Speed limit here is 75 MPH. I usually just set the cruise at 80 MPH and still get 20 MPG hand calculated(calculating for odometer error due to tire size). When I go slower, in the 60-70 MPH range on two lane roads I usually get 24-26 MPG. I get 16-17. 5 in town in the winter. 18-19 MPG in the summer.

I have a VanAaken box, AFE intake and 4" straight pipe.

I picked up a couple MPG with the above mods. I only got about 18 with stock tires and engine.

I really like the VanAaken and I only paid like $275 on EBay, brand new.

Silly question - have you checked your fuel filter lately?? Every 15K you need to change that thing. Just don't buy it from the dealer.

I have a FASS that was just put on about 7k ago. The filter should be pretty good.

I'm thinking with some of the above statements that something is not right with my truck, but I'm not goign to just start replacing stuff before I figure out what gives.

MAybe I need to step the injectors on mine. Since I put on the HRVP i have been getting 13MPG from 19MPG before Maybe my injectors are too small now?

Got 3. 55's And 315's Auto. I Get 16-17 Mixed Driving With The Superchip. Try Cleaning Your Intake Temp Sesnor. Got A Good 1 Mpg After I Cleaned Mine.

Boy am I glad to hear of someone else "not pleased" with the mileage, espcially with the "sluggish" 3:55 gears. Love the top end of those gears, but my buddy with the 4:10's (or is it 4:11s?) will clean my clock this year at the flashlite drags... .

I have a '01 duallie, stock EXCEPT for a Edge Comp, and K&N filter replacement.

I HAVE NOT done the fuel calcs by hand, I only heard first time tonite that the comp jacks them out of whack, so... don't know if accurate: 265/16 stock tires, empty duallie, I have done (I think I remember right) as high as 20 on the flat open hiway in S Carolina, however running up to Vermont and back from PA, mostly flat I90, no better than 15. Average local commute, mixed half and half country two lanes with interstate and some city, 13. 5.

Out the Edge comp on and that has jumped to 16. 5: by the computer, not hand. I don't really care if the mileage goes up... ... the POWER is there with that edge... . and I found it 3 bills used... ...
