Mpg

I'm running 265's on my 2WD QC 2002 HO 2500 NV5600 3. 55. I get 22. 5-23 running 55-60 and 20-21 running 75ish unloaded. That's with summer blend fuel. It's around 2 mpg less in the winter (of course there's more warm-up time in winter before drive-away too. )

Well over my college spring break i made a trip from Ames, Ia to Lawrence Ks to visit John and Scott at Floor it Diesel for a day, and then went to SE Arkansas to help out a good buddy on his farm. I think i logged about 2000 miles or so over the course of the week, and having my laptop with, i made a quick and easy fuel calculating program using excel. Here is what i got with current set up.

tank 1 = 16. 96 100% highway, cruise set about 70 ish on interstate.comp set on 1x1

tank 2 = 15. 65 80% highway, 20% city, driving into the wind. 80% 1x1 and 20% 1x3

tank 3 = filled out of tank in Arkansas with no gauge-comp 1x3

tank 4 = 15. 76 100% highway cruise set at 81mph with the wind- comp 1x3

tank 5 = 14. 36 100% highway cruise set at 81 to 85 against the wind 100%-comp 1x3

miles off of odometer plus 6% for tire size. i think that is right for going from 265 to 285. Is it close???

I would like to see a little better on the highway as well!! I cleaned my IAT sensor about a year ago, but i dont think it was really dirty, and didn't notice any change. I will be upgrading to F1 mach 4's sometime this summer(cash willing) and have heard many great things about these injectors. Has anybody up'ed there mileage going to these?? Also, anybody up'ed there mileage by using the smarty?? I dont mean to highjack, but think its probably good info for this thread.

Oh yeah, tires are 285-75-16 bfg all terrains- 3. 55 gears- and the rest in my sig- superchip not hooked up

mileage

Have the injectors pop tested. Get rid on the K&N unless you want to dust the engine. The lowest milage was 16 on the other injectors were replaced. Went to 24 with the P-N-P . :)

You're going to have to translate in terms of an engr/gearhead who is just getting going on diesels. I've been a gasser for quite a while, but I'm new to diesels, so I have no idea what you're talking about.

Just measure diameter of each of the sizes, and that'll give you the percentage adjustment.

That's not a hi-jack, it's kind of where I was hoping this thread would go (i. e. , what mod will give me better mileage for the money).

Elandon You may have a senario where the key is not in the key way. We have seen some barely missed and that would cause you low mileage. Most people tell us that they get better mileage. I'm not trying to say someone didn't do it right but just going down the list. There are other possibilities however. Your injectors maybe low on breaking pressure. Key could be in backwards. Sucking air. Fuel heater may not be working. ETC. Thanks
