I've got a '97 3500 5 speed with 4. 10's that had

215/85R16 as oem and ran 70mph @2400 rpm.

I''ve gone to 255/85r16 with wheel spacers to part the back duals and saved 150rpm (2250 @ 70mph);)

The 255's may be just a bit taller than 285/75's,but not much.

pweber,

I got my wheel spacers from C And S Tool and Die.

They have 1 1/2 and 2 inch spacers depending on how wide your tires are. They are made from billet aluminum and are strong! they come with an extra set of lug nuts. There web site is at www.rodjaxx.com or phone (618)258-9927

I hope they don't mind me showing there phone number!

The wheel spacers have there own lug bolts with them. Let me explain a bit more. First, you install the inner wheel on the factory lugs, next goes on the spacer. It has counter sunk holes in it and lug nuts that fit into these holes. Tighten the inner wheel and spacer onto the factory lugs using the new nuts. O. K. now it's time for the outer wheel. The spacer has it's own set of lug bolts that are counter sunk from the back side and stick

right through for you to mount the outer wheel on.

Use the factory nuts on the outer wheel so that you hub cap will snap into place as normal. And that my friend is it! 1 1/2 spacers will keep

285-75-r16's from touching;)
