Will 4:10 gears from an 04 2500 fit my 97 3:54. I don't think so, just making sure. and also will a 4:10 gearset from a 96 fit my 3:54 carrier.

No, and 04 has AAM axles, you have Dana.

A 4. 10 gearset from a dana 60 will fit on a dana 60 3. 54 carrier (your front).

4. 10's will not fit a 3. 54 carrier in a Dana 80 (your rear), the carrier break is 3. 73 on an 80.

Do like I did. Post a note in the classified section that you want to swap complete differentials with someone who has 4. 10s. There's a lot of guys out there interested in going to 3. 54s. I can tell you that the swap cost me some mpg (maybe a couple three mpg), but the power change was tremendous. I rarely have to take it out of o. d. and the the GVW increased by 3,000 #s. Just so happens my rig, decked out to roll, is right at the new gvw, this means that I was overloaded by 3 to 4K before.
