I have the Gearvendor overdrive unit installed in my 95. I pull in excess of 23,000 lbs combined weight often. I have the nv4500 5 speed... . and tow in 4th gear useing the Gearvendor overdrive while pulling heavy loads..... Benefits are..... lower trans temp (have trans temp gauge), can split gears on grades(better road speeds), more fuel economy(especially when empty, 1750 rpm and 75 mph = 23 mpg.

The trans temp shows about 80 degrees less useing the Gearvendor instead of 5th gear and more in hot weather. Unit has been trouble free and fun to use.

Hope this helps. ;)

Good info!

I'm set up just about like you are drive train wise except I have the GV unit on order and should be here in a week or so. I have busted 5th gear twice so am looking forward to being able to tow in 4th & over. I thought long & hard about going to 4:10's or a GV unit and my check book was leaning toward the 4:10 option. But the my little boat came in & I was able to go with the GV. From what you say I'm sure I made the right decision...
