Generator Question

Exhaust Brake General ???????

I'm a bit curious,

seems for the 03-05 trucks I can find axle ratings all over the place.

4000- 5200 for the front depending on engine and model 2500 hemi being the lightest. 4750 and 5200 for the Diesels.

For the rear, 6000 for the 2500, 6150 and 6200 for the 3500 SRW and 9350 for the 3500 DRW.

Seems I've read that the only difference between the SRW and DRW axles are the caliper bore size (therefore more braking force to handle the increased GVWR of 1600 in the case of the srw/drw 3500).

Obviously tire and wheel capacities play in.

I think the hub face/track width may be different which relates to what the bearings see (In a perfect world the center of the wheel assy would be centered between the two brgs)

Are there any other differences- tube size, wall thickness of tube etc?

I'm curious what you guys can tell me.

If my truck were a LB, I would consider converting to dually but I know of no aftermarket fender options like there were for the gen 2 trucks. As it is now, my next ruck will likely be a dually but I'll likely wait til the megacab is out and sold at a good price.

My new 5er is approaching the rear axle axle weight empty- will be better once I put the the buggy and tools/spares in it.

You might try posting this over on the 3rd gen forum. I think the info you are looking for might be easier to come by over there. Ken Irwin

Can't answer your question, but that is one heck of a generic (white) 5er. :) You may have to register the truck in one county and the trailer in another one.

I'll do that then- just figured more of the rubber hit the road in this forum with this topic.

The 5er is a Forest River 38' Work and Play, I ordered it and had therm delete the tape stripes (kind of plain, could not choose a color so they used them all). There name is still displayed on all 4 sides though.

I'll bet a case of your favorite cold beverage you're mistaken, unless you're talking Furd

You'd lose.

The original set of "Towing Capacity" numbers was based upon a standard-cab short-bed ST.

Not available as an SLT or Laramie, the ST shortie seemed, to me, to be aimed primarily as a snow-plower or, perhaps, a yard mule.

Apparently, DC must have not gotten enough orders for the shortie and dropped it. Either that or there was a frame issue.

I ordered my 2003 3500 SRW and according to the dealer at the time short box / dual rear was NOT an option. The short box came only as a SRW, the long box came as a DRW and then you could select the Delete DRW option to get the single.

Of course another option would be to convert to a DRW and put either a SWB flatbed or a custom bed just for hauling (can't think of what you call them?).
