Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Gen Light on

Tried unplugging the grid heater relay wires and this did not work. Three or four minutes after driving around I get the Gen Light. Seems to be getting worse.

I finally found my receipt for the Alternator. Came from Kragen/Oreilly a year and a half ago. I dropped by last night, and they sold me one with the promise to refund my money when I brought back the old broken one.

Changed it out this morning, and this toasted wiring is what I found...

Oh, and they refunded my money... though the kid at the counter last night demanded to know how I knew it was toast. Sigh.

When I was still messing with parts house fan clutches I had one lock up in Ft. Wayne, IN. I went into the store and verfied they had one in stock (lifetime warranty), then went back to the parking lot and removed the fan and clutch. When I took the clutch in, that same kid was at the counter. The front of the clutch was covered in oil around the heat coil and the nut would not move. I had to explain to him, and demonstrate with the replacement, that oil should not leak out and the nut should rotate. I have since gone to OEM only replacements. They may cost more, but do not fail nearly as often.
