I am buying a new 3500 DRW truck. Should I be concerned about General tires? The dealer will switch to Michelens if I want them. I have no experence with Generals and want this truck to be equipped to tow 100% of the time. Has anyone out there had the Generals for more than a few thousand miles?

michelins!

There may be some better tires out there, but GENERAL AIN'T IT!

I've seen them split down the middle on a 3500 front axle.

There was a time when General's were top of the line. Not so now. I suspect some outfit bought them out for their name then produced an inferior tire to make fast money. Michelin's are great but they don't have the best tread design. I think they are more of a highway tire. Bf Goodrich would be my choice, if you can get it.

Michelin's ride a little better, I also had a set of general's on for about 55k pulling a 3 car trailer, no problems.

Michelins would be a100% improvement over Gereral or Good Year tires! Only one problem, Michelin does NOT make a tire in the size that is on the 3rd gen. DRW Dodge yet. Until recently you could only get a dually with the sorry Good Year. Now also General. Both are some of the worse/poor quality tires available IMHO. They must get them dam cheap! I have wrote letters to DC letting them know what I thought about the cheap/no choice tire option on my $40,000. truck.

I plan on getting the 19-1/2" wheels so I can put Michelin tires on my dually if Michelin still does not make the 17" in the dually sizes B-4 the Good Years are worn out. (Pretty soon)

Go for the Michelins over the Generals. Although I did give my Michelins away for free at 19,000 miles because they are worthless in mud. Ride nice and are a quality tire otherwise.

Have a ferd 450 with the genrals on and they do ride rough, the truck is loaded most of the time heck maybe anything would ride rough on it, I got 85000 miles out of the first set and the second is about to be replaced didn't get as many miles on them
