WOW!! what a price on the Tekonsha Prodigy V2.4

who lifted

I just purchased the Yamaha EF3000iSEB. Looking forward to using at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend.

I'll probably be surrounded by campers with Generackets! I just sold my Generacket to a farmer! It ran everything it the camper fine, but was louder from the inside than my TV!

Anyone with a Generacket that wants a $100 noise suppressing muffler, let me know. I could make you a deal. Bad thing would be that you would still be disappointed!

Jumbo Jet:

I'm a "Generacket owner" but I like your label. I'll remember it. Good for a chuckle when it is roaring to power my air conditioner or microwave.

I travel by myself a lot spending nights in truck stops, road side rest stops, and other locations where no one is offended by my noisy "Generacket. "

Does the noise suppressing muffler actually do any good? What do you want for it?

No one has really talked diesel gensets yet. I see they are a lot more $$$, but are they quiet? Both Onan and Genrac make diesel RV units.

Anyone have a diesel genset? What about the dB?

Would be nice to power the genset from the truck fuel.

Generator

I spend about 20 nights per year dry camping. I run everything on 12 volts. I have a roof fan that provides evening circulation and in 15 years, there has only been one night that I was uncomfortable without AC. Beyond that, I cannot divine what in the h*## some people are doing with a 7KW generator running 24 hours burning around 1 gal fuel/hour.

I use a 1800 watt Coleman 3-4 hours every 24 hours and I can do anything I want including running a TV, stereo and VCR on an inverter.

I use a computer to monitor and manage my 12V system and I love it.

Backwoods Solar is the best source I've found for living independent of utilities. Here is the link to their computer:

I have 2 6V deep cycle batteries and I rarely use 50% of capacity even running the furnace hard on a cold night.

I would seriously look at diesel powered units, even though they are more money, why carry a second supply of fuel for the genset. run it right off of the trucks fuel. We had a couple of them on the farm and even the older ones are quieter than the coleman ect gens. If its a bit loud add a better muffler, we had one on the farm mounted in the back of a ford diesel duelly, we plumbed the exhaust right into the trucks exhaust pipe, ran real quiet. Cheers Mike

I vote for the " consider others" post. You will become a very hated person with a genrac that runs all night, and nobody within 100 yard radius can sleep. But you will find more and more people that really don't care. If a small portable honda will work, get it. My Onan 5500 is a quiet unit. A diesel is the quietest but to heavy for a fifth wheel.

Good shopping

Green with envy, just like the generator, Onan 550, bout mounted one in the rear of my pickup. . . till I found out I'd need to cut a hole in the bed to easily service that puppy. Ended up with a 4500 Honda on a rack on the rear of the 5er. Hated the idea of a gas generator, but need gas for the boat motor anyway. Just love the fact of carrying three fuels. I've seen Onan 550's around, have to see them cause you can't hear um. One bus I came accross I couldn't tell it was running without sticking my hand in front of the exhaust. Now I'm looking for a little bitty water cooled diesel for the pickup I haul with. Need both heat & air living on the road. Anybody know where I can find good used Kabota's?

Cheers,

Steve J.

Zari / Jumbo Jet,

How are those Yamaha's working out?

To purchase or not to purchase, that is the question.

Don't need 7kw as RamTough mentioned.

The Yam is not over kill for power, decent gal per hour, portable, and most important - QUIET.

SIDE BAR - what is the watt draw for a small compressor (tires to 80 psi, no air tools, 3/4 to 2 hp? Trying to size compatable compressor with gen.

Thanks, Brian
