Honda & Yamaha 3000's

Hello , actually the Yamaha is 1 DBA quieter than the Honda at full load , the real difference comes at the lower loads , I myself did look at the Yamaha and it looked good , I just just didn't care for the extra weight that would have to be lifted , some of us more experienced people like myself ( older ) don't need the extra lbs , the Honda is heavy enough that I load & unload it empty of fuel , every little bit helps .

Any idea on the run time of the Yamaha 2400Ei with about one half load? Does it have a variable throttle? I think this might be similar to the Honda EU2000i but with a little more power.

Not sure about half load but with my 11. 5 BTU AC I can run 10 hours on the 1. 5 gallon tank

Kipor Diesels are decent quality

We needed a small (3500KW) diesel generator to power AC motors on a tranport trailer. We switched to diesel pickups 8 years ago and it was a pain to have to deal with gas in the generator. The genorator is permenently mounted on the gooseneck and gets all the bounce and elements (rain snow). This really took its toll on the gas Hondas we have been running. When using the generator, a typical day has the genoroator running from 8am until 3 - 5 pm running 400 - 600 miles.



We tried a Kipor KDE3500T this season. Put 20K miles on the trailer and ran the generator for couple hundered hours. It runs quieter then the 3500W Honda it replaced. We would get about 6 hours on the Hondas running time. We get 14 - 18 hours on this Kipor. It is a very simple disign. Very well made and not at all "Chineese" looking. It fires off as soon as you hit the key. Puffs a little back smoke and cleans up real quick.

We will be replacing our Honda's with Kipor in the future. And we will go with diesel on any of the 3500 up up.

I purchased a Yamaha 2400Ei this spring and I ran a 11. 5 BTU portable air conditioner this summer in 100F heat. No problems and it is very quiet. This unit can also be run in paralle with another 2400 unit.

What model is that? I could not find it on Yamaha's web site.

I am going to check it out next week and see how it compares to the Honda EU2000i even though I think, for my needs, the Honda is all I need.

In my experience the 2000 Honda will not start our 13. 5 A/C, even after installing the "hard start" capacitor kit on the A/C.

So we went to the twin 2,000's in parallel. Easy to carry and no worries about running the A/C, micro, etc.

Not quite as quiet as the 3k Honda, but a lot easier to tote.



In cooler weather when A/C isn't needed we usually just take 1 along for battery charging. One or both fit nicely inside the truck tool box.
