Gen 3 axle ratings- actual differences

Little bit of a detailed question but I am sure someone can help me out. I am looking at a generator to run 1. ) my LQ horse trailer; 2. ) back up house power, and 3. ) (the kicker) to run my Miller 175 welder (20amp 240volt). I was thinking possibly a NorthStar 8000watt unit http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/...tDisplay?storeId=6970&productId=50043&R=50043

I need something electric start (so I can wire in a switch in the horse trailer to start and stop it) and has to be as clean power as possible (don't want to kill house or welder). Would this be my best choice or is there another brand out there that will work for this situation better?

Thanks for any input!

David

Onan builds some nice ones. They are electric start, diesel and deliver clean power. They are used a lot on boats. Cummins dealers usually carry them. I'm not that familiar with Northstar.

I believe Kohler makes a diesel unit, also.

There are several Diesel units available in that size range all with electric start yamaha, and Kubota make ones as well, but what about a combo welder/generator?

I thought long and hard about a welder/generator and if it were not for the fact we have to pack it in the horse trailer I would get one. Being so much bigger and quite a bit heavier a welder/generator just won't work in it. Thanks for the input though.
