Buying another Diesel, Advice on the deal??

Hey Kimber,

If you click on the real power video and watch it, it will show the generator and it installed under the truck. Not a great view of under the truck but you can get the picture!!!

Generator to House?

Ok... stupid question... how do you plug in your generator to the house..... a cord with two male ends?? Do you just kill the main and run a cord to an outlet... sorry I have no idea how this works. I have a generator that is mounted into my trailer. . could I just plug into and outlet of the trailer and plug it into the house? Curious minds want to know... LOL

Yes a cord with two male ends is how you do it ,but be very careful there is no power at either end and the main is off. It will backfeed to house ,breakers work both ways.

Ok, i finally bought a gov. surplus generator. 15kw so i'm hoping that will run my central AC. I looked out at the breaker box and it is a 10KW unit. I guess I'll run AC for awhile then the rest of the house. I'm sure it only pulls the 10kw at start up, I hope. I tried to get it to kick on with my 7kw-12. 5kw surge generator but it wouldn't budge. I haven't actually gone to get the generator but will in the next 10 days or so...

I run my whole house on a 10kw Onan off of natural gas. It runs the ac just fine, though I have a gas water heater, but I am on well water (electric pump). We went down for a week in June, the generator never missed a beat. It is the RS1200 Onan w/200 amp auto transfer switch, they now have Honda motors. Got mine here www.coloradostandby.com. I think the whole package was $5300 + around $800 install. Shipping was free!

Best money I ever spent! The wife was leary about the cost, but after a week of no power in the neighborhood, we had just installed the generator, she changed her tune.

Can't say enough about Colorado Standby, they sell on ebay also. Their service was top notch! And no one came close price wise. The best I could do locally for a Home Depot Generac was around $8000 installed, with a wall switch to turn it on. The Onan I have was qouted at $11000 installed, same darn unit and transfer switch I bought out of Colorado. What a racket!
