I installed one....

right after I read the thread that said "stuff" falling down in the "opening" for fresh air had plugged his A/C and he had spent something like 10-15 hours to change it out himself. I have nothing but praise for mine as far as keeping the dust down and not having to spend that 10-15 hours unnecessarily in the future.

Steve,

what about when you wash the truck. Water doesn't bother the filter element part I'm assuming?

Other than that, It looks like I'll go with it . The pollen season is just around the corner and I,like you, don't want anything clogging the evap coil and creating problems.

Excellent product

Phil, if anything water cleans the filter. Only problem I had with my cab-fresh is that it wouldn't lay flush with the number of screws provided, I had to add two more. While I was at it I traded all the screws for stainless.

Phil it's a great add-on I've had mine over a year now and it is a good move. I have to agree with Bill, you may want to change out the provided mounting screws for SS and you should predrill the holes first. Also make note that the dark carbon side of the filter faces up when installed in the holder form. The photo in the Geno's add is misleading as it shows "white" in the photo for contrast against the black filter form holder.

Re: Excellent product

Now that you mention it, I guess I should change my screws to stainless as well.

The filter should not be bothered by water, it kind of looks like scotch bright meterial.

I don't drive my truck that much (400 miles per month, until summer gets here :D ), but I notice when I do take it out (when the roads are dry) the filters seem to be removing all that dust from the cinders/road salt here in the NE.

We had a filter in my wifes Honda CRV, I noticed how much cleaner the inside seemed to stay (Less dust type cleaner that is).

So her new Furd (Escape) got a filter, and my new Dodge got a filter!

The activated carbon layer below the polyethylene foam is supposed to prevent odors from entering the cab. It stops working after it gets wet a couple of times. But the filter really does a good job keeping the dust and pollen out. I've driven through dust storms so thick you I could hardly see the lines on the road and very little dust entered the cab. I change mine once a year just before the March tree pollen season. The only down side is that the airflow ventilation to the cab is restricted a good bit.

I just had to have my evaporator coil replaced under warranty and I was told that there was a whole lotta crap in there. I had the filter ready to install the day I got the truck back. It's pollen season right now and I have to admit that the truck doesn't have anywhere near the dust as in the past three years. A very good investment. The stainless screws are a good idea.

Lee, I asked about that before purchasing my clean cab, everyone said no problem. So far I haven't noticed a difference and this is with a Scotty Air Unit intake though the firewall sucking all the engine air though the clean cab filter. Nice prefilter.

I just searched Geno's web site and couldn't find anything for Cab Fresh Filter. Anyone have a link so I can see what it is? Thanks.

Here is a pic of my install. I find this a big improvement in the air quality and the protection of the vents from leaves and such. I also bought the spare element.

You know, I like the smell of Skunk (at least when its fresh), Something about growing up in the country.

And I always look forward to the spring when the Amish clean out there barns, that's part of living in the country and I would miss it if those city slickers that keep moving in found a way to stop it.

Now we do have somebody that spreads Chicken Cleanings out on a field, now that stinks, ain't nothing natural about that smell, until I found out what it was I really thought it was somebody dumping toxic waist.

If so it would be worth a fortune!

Yep, it actually does prevent most of the skunk odor from reaching the interior for a while. But after a couple of months use the charcoal filter stops working.

If you run over the critter yourself and he sprays the underside of your truck, forget it. That's beyond the design limits of the part.
