Happy Holidays to everyone.

I'm likely going to install the CIPA towing mirrors from Genos on my 96' 3500. My truck currently has the chrome power mirrors (not the 4 post towing mirrors). What I'm concerned about is how difficult it would be to rewire the mirrors designed to replace the 98'-02' trucks with power/heated mirrors to install them on my 96'? I would love to install the heated/power mirrors, connecting the power portion to the original controls, and connect a switch for the heating circuit. Has anyone done this??? Is it a complicated re-wire (i. e. , 1 style switches ground the other switches power) ???? Someone has to have had the same idea. Any other feedback on the idea would also be appreciate.

Thanks again Guys,

I've been pondering that thought also except with the dodge flip-out towing mirrors. I don't really want to give up the power mirrors, don't care much about the heated part.

But haven't done this yet because of the lack of funds.

I did the conversion with the 2003 mirrors, and that is one of the best BOMBs yet! It is nice because when it rains, you turn on the heaters, and the mirrors stay dry. it took me a while to figure out the combination of the wires to make the mirrors move the right way, but once I did, the other side was a carbon copy. . when the mirrors are folded down, and you move the knob left and right, the mirrors go left and right. . when flipped up, one would think left and right on the knob would be up and down on the mirror. . for some reason there is a switch in there that will make the mirror go left and right with it folded down or up, pretty cool if you ask me. . I like the OEM look, and that is why I went with those mirrors over the CEPA mirrors. . just my $. 02 worth.

I wonder why Chrysler couldn't put the mirror heaters in my truck. . The 1990 Spirit I bought had them, so I know the technology was there. The truck cost enough, don't know why they had to cut corners:( .

Can't help you with the conversion, but I have the CIPA's on my 99 and I'm really happy with them (actually I have the BESTOP version of them - same mirror with a different name). Quality product I've been very happy with.

Good luck with the conversin.
