Anyone get the drink holder extender for the 03s from genos? The lid on the console won't latch no matter how hard I push on it.

Turbojet,

I bought one about a month ago. It is extremely handy regarding more space for drinks and there is a neat little spot for holding remote's, cell phone etc right next to your right hand. The sad thing is there is no way to latch the console. I even drilled it down with 4 screws hoping I could get it down enough that the latch would work. No go.

I think it is a worthwhile addition in the cab. I am thinking of adding a strap of some sort to lock it down externally.

I also appreciate your stereo. I think mine rocks out pretty well also.

There was a post a while back about this. I have one and the console lid shuts fine, just a little harder than before. I had to remove some of the plastic on the smoothie at the handle and shim up the latch to get it to work. I used washers as shims and so far so good.

If you take the lid off the council and remove the plastic on the bottom side you can get to the latch and put washers under it and it will latch.

There are 12 plastic clips that holds it on 4 on the sides find them and push in and up to release them. They break real ease. I broke four but I didn't know how they hooked when I did mine

I ended up shimming mine with . 150 shim. Then I had to trim the cup holder just in front of the latch, because everytime I would shut it, it hit the latch. Works great now!

Stick

Or, get out the Dremel tool. I did a little dental work on the latch finger with one of the fine cutters.

Total time: 60 seconds to latch, no pulling apart the console or shimming required. (no offense guys, the other way is solid, I'm sure). But, this seems to work fine, too!

PS, put something down to catch the metal shavings... .

I took off the center council top looked for the 12 clips holding the plastic on could not find any clips holding it on. Tryed to pry it off the top but was not moving and i didn't want to break it.

I might send the cup holder back to geno's until thay get a revised one.

I just pulled hard and sharp on the plastic ring to remove it. I only removed the half nearest the latch and left the rest attached. I really hate things fastened like this, I was always taught that if it doesn't come off easily don't force it or you'll break it (i. e. , you probably forgot to remove a screw, it comes apart some other way, or it isn't meant to come apart). Old habits are hard to break and I cringe everytime I have to pull off a panel held on like these ones are.

To me! this is poor quality control on the manufacture's part. A person should not have to alter a product accessory, it should fit correctly to start with. Should have been pre-tested, and corrected of any flaws before it ever left the manufacture. I would send it back. JMHO!

BADUNIT thanks for the help your way worked out fine. Have the top locking down now. Dont have to send the smoothy back.

You would think Geno's would have reserched there product befor thay sell them to everyone. But that life.

Thanks a million for the help.
