I know everybody is runnig f. p. gagues now. I feel the need to hook one up to see how everything is. I want it to be inexpensive and all inclusive. How is the Geno's setup? They sell the gague and sending unit together, and a tapped banjo seperately. Anyone who has gone this route, please let me know what you think. Would this be everything I would need, all in one shot? Like I said, this sounds good because this is my only ride and I need something I can just hook up and go. Lastly, which banjo fitting is determined to be the one to pull from? Any other pre packaged brands also welcome. Thanks guys.

Tulare?

You going to make the October Showdown this year bud? Some of the valley boys are setting me up with wheels and tires. I may just do an exibition pull for phunn:)

Let me know if you are interested in the SPA fuel pressure gauge. Try not to use a gauge that requires a live fuel line into the cab:eek:

www.smokindiesel.com sells a complete kit with an Autometer gauge and six feet of braided stainless steel line with AN fittings already assembled that requires not cutting or anything complicated. I have it and it was easy to install. I chose the kit without the Isolator (not nessecary on low pressure Diesel Fuel) but they do offer a kit with it if you want it. They can also do an electric gauge kit.

I have the same gauge as EMD, from the same place. Works great so far. If it ever did leak for some odd reason I would smell it and could unhook it with a crescent wrench. (I carry the plug in my truck) It's not explosive like gas would be if it were run in the cab. It's nice not to ever have to worry about the isolator going bad.

I just intalled the geno's setup this past weekend. When I got mine, they did not have the tapped banjo bolt yet. I went to a place called American Hose and had them make me up a line with a fitting for the schrader valve on one end and the 1/8 npt on the other. Then, all I had to do was remove the core on the schrader valve at the inlet to the injection pump and intall the line. Real easy and no mess. The line ( 3ft ) costed me a total of $6. 95.

Guage works just fine and no leaks.

By the way, I mounted the pressure sender on the firewall on the drivers side.

I have a dual (combo) fuel pressure gauge on order from Westach. This will allow me to monitor lift pump discharge pressure (pre-filter), VP44 inlet pressure (post-filter) as well as fuel filter differential. Guess I'm a believer that you can't have too much information should I have to do some side-of-the-road troubleshooting!

This dual gauge is Westach part number 2DC3-201. Grandpappy is getting some braided steel lines made up for me, I have a set of Ray's banjo bolts (2 tapped 1/8"NPTF), and I'll be mounting the Westach sending units on the driver's side firewall.

Thanks for all the info guys. Yeah, I'm planning on going to Tulare again this year HVAC -what a blast last time. How would you manage with 2wd though in the pulls? Ahh, who cares, at least there would be lots of smoke and dust. Thanks again everyone, I think I've got this worked out. See you in Tulare HVAC.

Goodness gracious Craig, I'll never catch up at this rate! I have to be a bit more cunning with the bombing funds than you:D I hope to make it to Tulare also, this time with a video cam!

Tulare Sled Pulls, Drags, & Dyno Event

Craig,

Yeah, dust and smoke to the max no doubt!:) Guess that's what I had in mind. With 18" wide tractor tires on I should be able to create a lil' flurry:)

A blast was had by all last year and I'm looking forward to participating in the pulls this year. There is supposed to be a drag race event also. Now that's my cup o' tea!:D My second phase twin turbos are going on next week:eek: Stay tuned for more ACTION!!!:)
