Geno's Garage White Knight Lights

I am thinking about installing a set of these lights. My concern is that they will not allow access to the safety chain holes in the receiver. They model I am talking about is the one that is designed to be a pass through so that the receiver can be used with them in place.

My set might be installed on an '04 2500 4x4.

I have the White Night backup lights installed. A couple of things you should know before hand.



You will need receiver hitches that have 4 1/2" between the pin hole and where any welding begins for the ball plate or bracing. The White Night case extends out past the end of the receiver. I have 4 hitches and only one was long enough to work.



I had to trim out the bottom of the bracket some with a dremel tool to have easy access to the safety chain holes. Not hard to do, but necessary in my case.



That said, I have had the lights for about 4 months now and really like the added lighting at night. The install was easy and everything works like it should.

I had a set of those lights and setup as JVolpe stated.



I rented a a skid steer and trailer, the pintle ring cracked, safety chains pulled tight and shattered the lights.



I bought a set of lights, relays, etc and buiilt a set of backup lights spaced about 10 inches off center of the hitch.

As I have posted on other threads related to backup lights, I do have a set of lights, wiring harness, switches and relay to install when I nuke these. I do think I will nuke them one way or another. But so far they have survived just fine and the lighting is very good.

I have the lights and haven't killed them yet either. I usually pull a bass boat, and occasionally a Case loader. I remember doing some slight modifications to the aluminum brackets to get them to fit on mine.

These are one of the few things that I've ever returned to Geno's. Didn't like the way they mounted and wasn't impressed by the plastic... Installed custom ones, just like I did on my 2001...

I used PIAA 4040 back up lamps. Lots of lights. A bit spendy. Aso they only come 1 per kit. But they do come with a toggle switch, so you can flip them on without being in reverse.

On my truck I added two 3/4" eyebolts to the bottom of the hitch for the safety chain attatchments. There are two existing holes there so I just enlarged them. The eyebolts are forged steel one piece units. They use them for lifting machinery so try an industrial supply. And the other posts are right about the hitch insert lengths.

I got a set for Christmas and they would not fit on my 2004. 5 2500, I also tried them on my wifes 2002 3500 and they would not fit on it either. You have to make sure you have the right hitch on your truck. I bought both my trucks from the same dealership and they both have the same stye hitch, my guess is the dealer installed the hitch on both trucks. The hole the receiver slides through was not big enough to fit on my receiver and the safty chain hook-ups were in the way. I sent mine back and bought a aftermarket set of lights and installed them. They work good and were alot cheaper.

I have had 2 sets. One on my old 97 on now on my 2003. They do interfere a little with the chains. I installed a couple of "D" rings in the eyelets to make it easier to access for chains but I think there great.

I had them on my 96 I had to drop the factory hitch 1" to get them to fit also the mirror finish inside the light started rusting ended up with a hole in the light I like them but dont know if Ill buy another one for my 04 RAm

I loved having them on my 2nd Gen. and I know that I have them listed on my current signature. But, I installed them on my "new to me" '03. And, they hang out past the bumper by at least 1". I just didnt think that they looked good. I do know that some on here have "bombed" their White Nights to fit. I have not yet. I am worried that if I went to cutting holes in the housing that faces the underneith of the truck I would just fill the light housing up with salt water here in Indiana. But, Yes, I think they work great and provide ample light for backing up. And to address your question a bit more, yes it is difficult to hook up safety chains, and the pin for the reciever. But, I dont pull that much and its not much of a problem for me.
