2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Geno's heated wipers work??

I saw the heated wipers in there catalog do they work? Have they been out and used very long? Thanks.

I don't know if they work, but I plan on finding out this winter. I haven't been to pleased with my ram's defrosting capability in winter storm conditions, and this sounds like it will fix it.

45 bucks it will be worth it. Defroster works good on mine but the wipers freeze up. I guess they are like snow wipers and enclosed.

They've been out quite a few years. The Iowa-80 truckstop has/had them for sale. Not sure if they still do or not. Never used them.

They aren't enclosed. I have a pr. of them laying in front of me. The heating element is in the blade itself, wire plugs right into the end of the blade. Take the wire off, and they look like a regular blade. I have talked to truckers that swear by them. The replacement blades aren't bad either, 5. 00 ea. , and have a 3yr warrenty. Hope we don't need them, but will find out this winter.

Ordered them from Geno's, a local glass shop here was selling them for 69. 00 a pr.

So the heating wires are in the rubber blade (technically referred to as the "refill" at the auto parts store), eh? I'd almost prefer them to be on the metal blade assembly. In my experience it is the freezing up of the joints causing the blade to hold a cup shape and failing to wipe the spot directly at eye level that is more of a problem then ice on the rubber refill (though that happens, too).



I've often thought of running a small plastic tube off the heating system to pipe hot water up to the wipers, spot-gluing it to each joint on the metal blade to keep them from freezing. Just never got around to it.



Also, melted ice on the rubber refill will often freeze to an icy glaze as the blade wipes across the glass on a cold day. Ever have this happen when the defroster finally warms the base of the windshield and melts the ice, then you hit the wiper switch?



Anyway, they still sound like they'd be worth a try.
