Geno's lift pump kit

Anyone know why the kit from Geno's comes with an inline simple filter but the stock system doesn't? Do these pumps fail from ingesting debris from the fuel/tank?



Seems like one more restriction to me on an already marginal fuel lift pump... which I bought as a spare. However, when the time comes to replace, I want to ensure I do the right thing and either install the filter or not.

We've installed a billet aluminum filter assembly in the fuel line of our trucks... . a 10 micron primary filter and a 2 micron secondary filter... all our trucks now have the in tank conversion with the pusher pump in the tank... .

We've tested the fuel pressure on this assembly for the past 50K miles on our 5500... we've had no fuel pressure drop... We installed this assemble to protect the injectors and related injection parts because we felt that the stock filter didn't do a good enough job... .

Because none of my trucks have HP improvements we've felt no need to install any additional pumps... .

We have had 3 lift pump failures on our trucks from the stock location of the lift pump and we feel that it was because of design/installation issues making it work harder than its designed to work... . pumps have one heck of a time sucking... . but do very well pushing... .

It's my thought that the lift pump is a poor design based on the installation... . if the tanks were closer, and higher, this pump would function for years as it does on other installations... .

The filter is just a prefilter (negligible restriction) to protect the pump.

I've seen these on the older mechanical B and C series Cummins in Freightliner chassis

They last a long time

Exactly... if you look at that filter, it is nothing more than a screen for large particles.



These pumps don't like being higher than the tank, and they definitely don't like dirt!
