Geno's Muffler delete question on 06

I just ordered the ME kit,anybody runnin this on there 06 with the kitty still on, how dose it sound?

I am running it this way on my 05, i like how it sounds, it's loud under acceleration but tollerable. It has a little drone under acceleration but i like it, but i'm also 22. While crusing i think it sounds fine. I was thinking about ripping the kitty off because i want it louder, but i think that will be way to load for me starting my truck up at 4:30 in the morning and my neighbors. Overall i would do it again on another truck.

dido with what jltcasper3 said. I have mine on for about 4 months and so far so good. Deep mellow sound, gets a little loud under hard acceleration but nothing crazy. Good luck getting the stock muffler off. The factory set the torque wrench to about 1000 lb. I guess and crimped the thing on. Just use a hacksaw or saws all and you will be ok. I have no drone, however I have not towed anything very heavy. Maybe under a heavy load things would be different. I cruse at 70-75 on the interstate and it sounds great and can hear the radio just fine.

Ive heard a 06 with out the kitty and under moderate load not to bad, but when heavy they have a loud raspy sound that i do not like at all! Sounds like a ricer.

To get the old muffler apart from the factory crimp, take a cut off wheel and slit the pipe on both sides and pry it up and down and it will come off.

I did the ME kit... sounds great on a MC with kitty and resonator... . 'till you tow 5000 lbs + with it..... bad case of cab drones... replaced it with the Rokk silent might... its quieter... . I miss the unloaded cummins exhaust note... BUT while towing its a dream now-BJ

at idle?

HI Folks,



How does this sound at idle? My driveway goes by my neighbors windows and they have already told me they know when I'm going or leaving :-laf We drink beers with them and our kids play together, so I don't want to **** them off. I get in and out of my driveway at idle, so if its not that much louder at idle, then I would like to get this kit.

If you are concerned about noise, look at the Silent Might. It's basically a quiet muffler delete pipe. It's got a 4" pipe straight through it.

Thanks for the info drury, when are you going to install yours?

Anyone else have one of these installed? Did you notice a performance gain? Would any body have a comparison by chance?



Truthfully I wouldn't mind a throatier(*) sound when I punch it, but at idle I need it not to be louder then it is - I don't want to lose a drinking buddy
