Genos towing mirrors

My 18 has memory for up and down positions so it’s not a big deal, even my 05 that didn’t have memory mirrors wasn’t a big deal to move the.

I’ve had to adjust any mirror that slides or flips when moved. The ones that slide take less adjustment and you could probably get by without adjustments but the sight picture wouldn’t be optimal.

I had 17 years of seat time with my Cipa mirrors. I’ve had 4 years with the flip ups. My preference is Cipa, but they seem to not be available now. That’s why I asked if anyone had experience with the mirrors I linked, as I don’t want to make an expensive mistake on them. My 2000 is an SLT Laramie and has all of the bells and whistles available at the time, which does not include all of the new memory stuff. I’m okay with that and I’m not currently interested in replacing it. I am not happy with flip up mirrors myself, but I know many are. I am not trying to convince anyone to change their opinion about anything. I’m just trying to find the product that fits my needs and preferences. Have a good one!

My truck, ‘98 2500 QCSB, never had a gooseneck or 5th wheel hitch in it, came with them. When a truck comes with them, they use a HUGE insert to thread the bolts into. I removed mine and had to grind the inserts to remove them. The holes the inserts are in are @ 1/2”.

I thought you meant the 98 came with the cheap plastic d**do type ? So I can’t Just get the steel ones and bolt on then

Sure you can. You'll probably need to put some king of threaded insert in the door to run the mounting bolts into, I don't know. I'd imagine a new set would come with what you'll need to mount them. I was just telling you that the factory one's had some HUGE inserts in the doors.

I didn't get a pic of the mirrors on the truck or the inserts before I removed them. This is what I wound up with.

For now I’ll just have to be happy with what I’ve got I guess . I had the body shop replace the new style on my 98 truck one is pretty good the other one has always shook like crazy . My 99 they both shake so bad you can’t see anything if your driving
