Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Georend Bros transmission

I just got an email from Dave about the transmission for my 97 3500. He said the standard transmission is around 3k. Has anyone had one installed and can you tell me ballpark overall cost installed, how long it took and feedback from the transmission action after. My auto trans is I think on its way out. I get a little shutter when I come into overdrive and when I come over a bridge I can hear a whining from the transmission. The wife says I am hearing things. WHAT?

That was about the same price for me, with tax. That included the torque convertor as well. With the extra stuff I had done, it was something like $3620 out the door. This is assuming you aren't getting any billet parts (ie: shafts). I had them replace all the lines (excluding the one I changed earlier) and change some other seals (engine rear main seal and both output shaft seals on the t-case).



Had mine installed in their shop. Was something like $400 and 4-5 hrs to R&R the transmission. That was only to pull and install the new one. After the before and after test drives, adding fluid, making any final adjustments, installing the resistor (so the PCM won't cause you to go into limp mode from the higher line pressure), and for the extra stuff I had done, I was in and out after about 6-7 hrs maybe.



Dave's guys did a great job on the install. Very neat.



Driving manner, they are what D/C should've done in the first place. Firmer shifts and MUCH better torque convertor. Lower temps. Can't say enough on how much I like this transmission. I still prefer a manual transmission (personal preference only), but this is a GREAT transmission. You won't be disappoited. Some of the best money I've ever spent.

I did my own. I think I would let Dave's guys do it if I had to do it again. It wasn't that hard just very time consuming for an amatuer. Course I switched from a manual to an auto. If you hade all the tools and know how, an auto to auto swap would ony take about 5 hours.

What a difference in my transmission after he rebuilt it. If I had to do it over again I would do it again. He is a man of his word. You get what you pay for. It cost me 3000 for the job as he said going in.

That price sounds about right for what I paid for mine. I had a local shop install it for around $520 out the door. I dropped it off on a Thursday morning and I got a call before 10 the next day saying it was ready to go. I opted to have a shop install it because I knew it would be quicker and I also didn't have a transmission jack or the time.



It is a complete night and day difference between the GB transmission and stock. If I had know what a difference it made I would have bought it sooner. My stocker was starting to slip and had some shimmies and shakes that were even worse when towing.
