Hey Guys,

I just picked up a set of the Group 65 Die Hard platinum. If you're familiar, you know what it is, if you're not, it's one of the best batteries available for our trucks. It's the same as the Odyssey but with the Die Hard name and the Sears warranty. The warranty is 4 year free replacement and 100 month prorated. That's over eight years... . :D

The Odyssey is around $270 shipped, and the Die Hard version is normally $189 plus any taxes and shipping. Sears is having a sale online through 5:00am on May 17th. The battery is 10% off. You can also stack a $5 off coupon, so if your purchase them separately, you actually get $10 additional off. So, add the battery to your cart to see the 10% discount, then add the additional promo code "OFFERS" in the shipping cart, and you'll see that the price drops to $166. 49. Select in-store pickup, and the only additional charge is sales tax.

Here is a link to the battery: (you'll see the sale price after adding it to your cart)

Here is a link to the same battery with the Odyssey name for comparison of specs, etc.

I picked mine up for $181. 89 each after taxes. I'll be picking them up at the store tomorrow. These hardly ever go on sale, so it's a good opportunity if you need a battery and read this before 5:00am tomorrow.

Have a great week!

I bought some back last spring and they wanted $65 to install them. So I took them with me only to go to Sam's and will getting fuel saw that they had their premiem battery on sale for $79 with free installation had a 4 year free replacement with another 2 years prorated. Needless to say I took the Diehards back.

Man I just missed it.
What I find sad is the optima red top warranty had been dropped to 3 years.
Why even buy one? Unless you must have a sealed battery.

So I need new batteries ... Are these really worth the extra $$ I live in the Seattle area and cold around here is 32... Im pretty sure 1 of my stock batteries is dead and has been a while and I figure these are at least a 1/3 to 1/2 more in cost.

Next Q ... seeing as these are great batteries ... has any one just run 1 ?

My last 01 I had done the Odyssey battery and when my truck sat for like 5 days when I was trucking, in the winter, they would lose their charge. . Also found out that the odysseys are voltage sensitive,. . you can't charge them over 14 volts or they will go bad. . there is a special charger they sell for it...

I just went with the Yellow Everstart batteries from Wal-mart. . . regular 2 batteries do just fine and we get to 0 deg or lower here in Salt Lake City.

As an option, I've been using the Optima's in my Dodge/Cummins for years. They work very well, especially in the desert heat of Phoenix, AZ.

The thing I like about them is that, in my experience, they seem to fade or get weak before actually dying. they give you some advanced warning of their failure. The water batteries I've used seem to just die. No indication that they are getting weak.

When I notice them fading in power, I buy new ones & keep them in the truck bed for future replacement.

The Optima's are very clean, also. No mess like with water batteries.

Hello
Comming up on 6 years Napa Spiral wound gel cell sealed Batteries have been completly drained because of my dumb behind leaving lights on 4 times. twice the Batteries were left for 2 weeks with the inside lights on, deader than dead. 10 mins with AAA and the truck started. these Batteries have exceeded my expectations and I will replace them with the same. I am unsure of the Warrenty I did dot have to use the warrenty. I live in Alaska where the heater Cycles deep before start BRRRR. the batteries drain down but the truck always starts. unless I leave the lights on I have learned or so I think.
