Getrag Gone South

Well the transmission in my brother's truck (my old truck) finally went south. I guess time for transmission #3. The first went 180,000 km the second lasted the same. Oh well. Only first and second gear seem to work. Hopefully we can get a NV4500 in soon and solve that problem. Any tips or advice would come in handy. We'll give Quad 4x4 a call as well as the gear center up here north of the 49nth. I drove my Dad's new '03 3500 srw to go pick my brother up and to pull the trailer home and I think my old girl has a bit more power it would seem. But his only has 9000km on it. I hope it has more once it is broke in.

i have a 93 with a getrag. i pulled it out... don't drop it on your foot... it's very heavy and a pain to get out... . it took 3 profisionals (me my father and my uncle) to get mine out. also the bottom portion of the shifter has to get pulled out could u sell me your old one? (i'm trying to save mine... i know not a good idea) also were are you going to get your new trans.

Dan at Quad 4X4 has a first rate NV4500HD package. It will go together right the first time. Since I installed mine about 20,000 miles ago and have not looked back.

Aw, don't worry about that. After you've had that sucker out and back in a couple times you'll be able to change it real fast!



Heck, I changed one in 4x4 by myself!

I wish I had known 3 pro's that could do mine! I had my Getrag in and out 3 times then gave up on it and switched to the NV4500HD and did that twice - the second time was for a clutch. I also pulled a Getrag and replaced it with my old - but rebuilt - Getrag for a freind. That one I had help on due to a less than 100% hand. I have also pulled the flywheel twice on mine and once on his. His old input shaft and pilot bushing were shot.



Darn I'm sweating and cussin just thinking about it.
