I have come to the point in my W250's life that the getrag dies. What I am wondering about is where is a good shop or company that will rebuild this transmission in the San Antonio tx area. Or is there a good mail order place that has good getrag transmission's and if so how much? Mine has gone out kinda early do to poor maintenance on it from prior owner of truck. When I bought the truck the first thing i did was put amsoil in everything and the transmission was about a half quart low then. I overfilled the transmission by a quart and that has gotten me to the 140k (25k since bought) mark but the input bearing is howling perty bad now and I know that it is going to totally give out real soon.

Thanks David

Not bad

I had mine rebuilt and about 10,000 miles after I had to put a clutch in. So I had my gramps come and check it out and the imput shaft had went  So had to bearings and a new shaft put in and good to go. Cost around 200$ for the parts. The reason was lack of lube. So this time it's got 5 qts in it. So it could not be to bad
